Yes, there have been many studies that prove that going for it pays off more often than not. Here's one: https://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/05/upshot/4th-down-when-to-go-for-it-and-why.html
Nope because Bowles will strangle any OC play calling. Its the only thing he's engaged in doing. Its 1970's vision and by golly he's not changing for anyone. Its been proven to work 40 years ago and why change things.
Great points. They also never have long sustained drives eating up tons of clock. The offensive line also is not built to ground and pound or even be competent in pass protection. Darnold was running so much I thought he was in the Olympics. Not good having a rookie QB or even a vet constantly under pressure. Then Bowles and his dumb staff can't recognize that and adjust the protection or call some plays to throw the defense off. The Jets are just too predictable.
Absolutely. The Jets have to get away from this 3 yard and a cloud of dust mentality and hire somebody who is an expert on West Coast Offense to run whatever, team, unit, etc. If you are the Jets OC, you have to put Darnold's athleticism to use here and script plays around his talents and mobility. Just like Bill Walsh put Joe Montana's athleticism to very good use a few moons ago at the city by the Bay. Best way to develop a QB is to script plays which play to his strengths and go all in. Creativity is a must on the offensive side of the ball. This ain't no West Coast Offense.
How bout Boozer Contrails and Joe W just BUY this team....hahah ..I can dream right? If the owners had a Fan advisory Panel I would put you 3 on iT!!!
