You may be right, but I'm still willing to give him a shot. Parcells was/is an asshole and he had no problems here. Lots of New Yorkers are assholes. I don't think he'd implode. Chris Johnson may not like him or Harbaugh may not want to work with/for the Johnsons, but it's worth kicking the tires on and making him a serious offer.
I disagree. If we had no cap space and still had only McCown and Hack as our QBs, then you'd have a point, but that's not the case now.
I'd welcome the challenge to turn the Jets around. And I promise I wouldn't whine about the ownership or shy away from tough questions. Want me to be our next coach?
Then we should start pointing fingers at Little Johnson. No way should he have given Bowles and Maccagnan a 2 year extension. They should have been coaching for their jobs this year. Losing record gets you canned. Right now there is no giddy up with them. They think they will be here forever.

How about someone like Lovie Smith? he left the NFL with a winning record, he never had good QB, still won, made a Super Bowl, etc. Id rather take a guy who hasn't won a Super Bowl any day over someone who has, the record shows Super Bowl winning coaches don't win again.
Personally I believe that the take as the Jets as a sad-sack franchise is overplayed. Are the Jets an upper eschelon team in NFL with a rich history? Obviously not. However, we are not as bad as many other teams in the league. Over the last 17 years (the post Parcells and Brady years) the Jets have been a pretty average franchise. You can look it up. The facts are that in games not played against the Pats the Jets are virtually a .500 team. In games played against the Pats the Jets have about a .250 winning percentage in that same time period Kand that doesn't count the 4 years that Parcells was here). That puts them at about average because the Pats have average about 12 wins since Brady became the starter. So while the Jets are seen as a mockery (perhaps outside of our fanbase as well as within the fanbase) their somewhat recent history has shown the Jets to be a very mediocre team, typically not the dregs of the league. Therefore, if the Jets do decide to go in another direction at the end of the year (even though Darnold shows good progress) and the owners act swiftly I believe that they could land quality GM and / or HC personnel. Of course, if Darnold shows good progress that might negate the team making a change. Hence the conundrum.
Yes, mediocre record but have had some good talent that has been wasted by bad coaches. That is part of the frustration with the fanbase because we know the Jets have had some talent on both sides of the ball and underperformed. That goes to coaching. Not being prepared, not being in football shape and lack of disciple.
I disagree about everyone saying Chris Johnson was wrong for giving Mac/Bowles an extension. That's what you do, you set your coach and GM up to succeed. Trust in them even if a little bit blindly, give them all the support you can and see how they do. That way there is no built in excuse, no coach likes to coach for his job on the last year of their contract. Bowles may have anointed Bridgewater the starter right away if there was a playoff mandate. What Chris Johnson said about that situation was correct, there's nothing good that could come from doing that. Make sure the team is headed in the right direction. So far it appears , as I have assumed since week 17 in Buffalo, the coach needs to be canned and I think Chris will do it. I trust Chris Johnson more than I do Woody so far, I think it's a blessing in disguise he is in charge and I think he'll do the right thing.
