Yes, and I am SO SICK of that SOJs football! It leaves games in "all or nothing" mode - where you either have to protect a one score (usually FG) lead, or you need to mount a comeback drive under two minutes. How often does that work out? How about we build an offense can score on anyone, anytime?
Yeah as really think that Darnold unless barring injury will be under center for the rest of 2018. Unless he struggles more and loses more games and put on McCown, such a classy QB and player under center.
He's not. Granted he's on pace for 27. But he's also an infant in NFL years. He's the least of my concerns. I've already seen more from Darnold in terms of cerebral understanding of how to play QB than Sanchez. Darnold is better in every way and has more room to grow.
That's why situationally you almost had to go for the TD there instead of the meek field goal because we hadn't shown the ability to stop the Browns as soon as Mayfield came in. Ok go for it at the 2...if you don't make it it's still 14-14 and Cleveland has to start a drive with their backs to the goal line. Kick a field goal and it's 17-14 and Cleveland has better field position and comes down through Bowles vaunted D like a hot knife through butter
He might’ve. That game Thursday felt so much like the Thursday night loss in Denver when Rex allowed Tim Tebow to come from behind and beat him
If Rex was coaching the Jets would have lost 6-3 Thursday night, he would have been pleased every time the offense came off the field with a 3 and out as long as they didn’t have a turnover, His type of coaching closely followed by Bowles is the reason this team has Sucked for so many years.
Rex Ryan sucks. The Jets would probably have never had the lead in that game, and most certainly wouldn't have beaten the Lions the way they did. In fact, we probably wouldn't have Darnold. Rex would have campaigned for Allen or some DL.
Here is a question: Would Doug Pederson have won the game as Head Coach of the Jets? Since he and Bowles are literally 100% opposite with coaching techniques it is a valid question. The easy answer would be yes, but the real answer is we don't know.
Rex would still be starting McCown, and he would have publicly declared that the Jets needed to trade Darnold plus their next three first round picks for Mack when he was available. Or some other nonsense. The Jets might have won the game, but they would absolutely be more embarrassing than they are now.
One thing Rex would have done is continue to bring pressure. Bowels got a lead and then like clockwork played scared the rest of the game. Mayfield had plenty of time to throw whereas Taylor was under constant pressure early on. This loss was not on Darnold or those stupid penalties. This is a coaching staff lost and there have been a ton of those type losses under Bowles.
...except Sanchez played better in the post season than any Jet QB before him. It was Rex's defense that let us down in the playoffs.
Rex' teams were just as undisciplined as Bowle's teams. These are the Jets; they would have made the same bonehead plays at crucial times to ensure defeat. Changing a coach does not change the fact that this is a terrible organization, from top to bottom.
If anything, this loss reminded me of the 2011 loss @ Denver, when Rex's defense let Tim Tebow come down the field and score with the game on the line. Also on national TV on a Thursday night, btw.
Saints beat you guys 24-10 that season and Sanchez threw 3 picks. Saints would’ve definitely beat the Jets again.
Of course Rex's team would have lost the other night. We simply replaced one lousy coach with another. Just because Bowles is arguably the worst coach in the NFL doesn't make Rex a good coach by comparison. Remember, this is the guy who lost 38-3 to Bills team that couldn't practice all week due to a blizzard.
Because no team has ever lost in the regular season to a team and then beaten them in the Super Bowl. As I recall, the Bills beat the Giants in the 90 regular season; how’d that rematch in the super bowl work out for you? Dumbass.
