The positive is Darnold and a defense that’s played pretty good so far, surrendering points on a short field but also shooting themselves in the foot. The negatives are coaching, lack of playmakers on both sides of the ball, and a poureous OL. All 3 of the negatives could be addressed this offseason, but were not the only team with a ton of cap space. The Colts have more and the Bills are right behind us.
we were pinned deep on every possession and once we forced a turnover we gave it right back ... if we saved our time outs for once ... maybe just maybe we score going into half time and the outcome could have been a little different at the end of the game !
Agreed. A player retiring at halftime of a blowout is probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen since the butt fumble.
I looked at who started the thread and thought this was going to be a collection of excuses as to why Petty was terrible (coaching staff, talent around him, playbook, etc.). Instead I found some educated, insightful reasons as to why a team with a 21-year-old QB lost the second game of his career. Refreshing!
Cman one of my personal favorites and it seems everyone uses it after they lose = " we did not execute " and my answer is no shit but more importantly " why did you not execute ".
SHUT THE FUKK UP YOU A-HOLE! I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU! Nice tie. Wanna go for a cup of coffee and hang out?
Sam and his receivers are not making excuses, but it is nice they have each other's backs. https://nypost.com/2018/09/17/sam-darnolds-reaction-to-losing-says-everything-we-need-to-know/amp/
No excuses - we are a mediocre at best team. We may win a game or 2 that is unexpected, but we will also put up some stinkers along the way. At least Bowles always has them showing up and playing hard, right?
Why not just one fully thought out message? This is egregious. But the Jets were 2 plays from winning this game. The INT in the endzone. And the end of the 2nd half was just lucky. I think we are still heading in the right direction. Can't wait for Kearse to come back to see less of Pryor
No excuses. A loss is a loss and it was the worst kind: Self-inflicted. Easier to swallow a loss when you are out played by a better team. I feel a little bit like that today actually. Last week I was 100% sure the Jets would beat the Dolphins and today I am 99% sure the Browns will beat the Jets Thursday.
No excuses but I have optimism. Darnold is looking like the real deal but he will make rookie mistakes. We were shutout at the half and down by 20 and still were never out of the game. Turnovers by them Themself will lose you an NFL game put the missed opportunities on top of that and you will lose 99% of the time in the NFL. I have optimism coming out of this game Quincy is a number 1 and proved it this game. Robby is still a threat and a good number 2. Pryor, not sure yet. Kearse will help when healthy. We are not Jacksonville D but we played well after the offense continued to put them in bad situations. The Jets had horrible field position the entire first half and could not get the field flipped. Defense comes up with the play of the game and we throw a pick the very next play. This team will get better and better as the season moves along and nobody will want to play them come the final 1/4 of the schedule. Should be a fun year as a fan. Next year we should be thinking deep run in the payoffs.
