I think the 2 weakest spots on the team is OL & OLB or PR. I would like to see them make a play for Mack so we can use our draft to get OL and also look OL in free agency. we are slowly filling the holes on the team but OL is a definite need.
I just hope that Beachum can get healthy, if not they may be in trouble this year. This is why I'm against trading for Mack, the Jets need resources to build up the line next year. They absolutely need next year's first to draft a tackle and money to sign a decent guard plus draft one, and that is absolute minimum. They will likely survive the season if they stay healthy, but I'm not confident at all in the 2nd and 3rd stringers becoming starters.
Maybe not really good. But average to good...sure it happens. Particularly if a rookie beats out a high priced vet that a team can get rid of sometimes you do see it.
Agree but the need for a edge rusher could cost us games. The need for DL help could cost us our franchise QB
I had mentioned before in another thread that the ability of Darnold to evade/elude the rush will probably convince Bowles that he will be the starter. But, I'm not so sure that he may not overlook putting Teddy in there 1st to see how the OL performs the first few games. No matter how well Darnold does in the preseason, it's not the same as when they start counting.
Maybe next year if he can put on weight and muscle. I saw him standing between OL and TEs the other day at practice and he looked more like a TE than an OT. James Carpenter otoh, now that's a very large man.
this line ain't great, but if any of you saw the Cardinals O-line try and protect Rosen, it was pathetic. Rosen, not as mobile but gave him absolutely no shot.
Trey Adams, OT, Washington. Height: 6-7. Weight: 302. Projected Round: 1 (2019). Seems to be on everyone's top 10 as a true blue chip prospect of a Franchise LT. There aren't any mock drafts that I've seen with Trey Adams projected as a top 5 overall pick, but they all have him falling within the Top 10. And from what I've seen every mock does have him available when the Jets select. But who knows how 2018's season could go. What if the Jets exceed expectation and fall out of the top 7-10, then what? Which is why I now feel and believe as if it's a must that Mike Maccagnan finds a way to trade Teddy Bridgewater for either a 2nd (or even a 3rd) in return ala just in case we're in bad draft position and forced to trade back up into the Top 10 with 2019's 1st (+) 2019's 2nd (or 3rd for Teddy); in order to draft Sam Darnold's future blind side protector. I'd love Khalil Mack in green and white (a Jet) as much as the next man, but I do kind of feel as if our best bet (long term) would be to A.) Sign a Fowler Jr type of Free Agent edge/outside pass rusher (or maybe two) with our available cap space and B.) Look to use our 1st rounder (or trade up) for Trey Adams. But of course I'd feel a little differently if I wake up tomorrow and find out Mack is now a Jet (I'd do cartwheels).
Sad to hear that. I had read he had put much of the weight back on but it must be tough to maintain with his medication and what he’s got. I’m ok with giving him a redshirt year.
Just another example of how important a good OLine is to any Qb. I hope Darnold never has to take the pounding that Petty took here. I'm hoping Macc puts some new tires on our shiny new Lambo.
Anyone remember that absolutely brutal away game in 2012 when McElroy started vs. the.Chargers? Oh my God, my eyes. He got sacked so many times I thought he was going to start crying. Hell, I almost started crying. Hands down one of the worst OL performances in Jets regular season history. The reason I bring this up is because if Darnold ever starts to get pummeled like that, protect your investment and yank him. Minor delayed development from less playing time vs. potential injury, it's a no-brainer. If the Jets stupidly subject him to something like that, the Jets FO better watch out. I'll make it my mission to turn into the next Ted Kaczynski.
I agree, I want Teddy to start the year because our LT tackle situation does not look good right now with Qvale starting. The line isn't the worst in the league, but Qvale is not someone you want protecting your blindside.
