Gives me chills to this day. I was only five, but I remember it SO vividly. I mean, my long term memory is impressive (my short term memory is for shit, lol), but how could this NOT be branded in everyone's brainbox, no matter how young you were? I distinctly remember lying on my stomach on the living room floor with my elbows propped up with my face in my hands (a kid thing, I'm sure you get what stance I mean even if I'm not explaining it right) in front of the TV. A couple of neighbors were over and all the adults were bunched around our crappy Zenith television. Not only do I vividly remember the landing, but also watching the blast offs of Apollo 9, Apollo 11, and of course, Apollo 13 and the heart-stopping drama that followed. The first lunar landing mission was supposed to go off the year before (July 20th, 1968), but there was a fire on the launch pad or something. I think a couple of people were killed.

EDIT & P.S.: Also some love for Apollo 8 and Apollo 10.

Balderdash, I have it on very good authority that there was never a moon landing.

I remember we were on Cape Cod until the day before the moon landing and the biggest story was actually the day before we left, some a-hole drove some chick off a bridge on the Vineyard and let her die.

It’s all the news was covering up there.

My Daddy hated Ted Kennedy over that. Of course I remember that as it was unfolding. I also remember his lawyers throwing him in the water to re-enact why/how he couldn't save Mary Jo. Eh, maybe it was an re-enactment, maybe it was staged footage, but it was about two weeks after it happened. I'm half right in either direction. Joe Kennedy was a scumbag while I'm at it. RIP Rosemary Kennedy. Joe Kennedy should only rot in hell for that if there is one.
