The Pellegrini signing is another good move. Its so refreshing to see us building an actual team of NHL vets in the front office.

Between Milbury and Snow, I have wasted way too many years waiting for this team to accomplish anything!

If Lamoriello would not have been hired he was a goner. I don’t believe he would have signed if Snow had remained in place as GM.

He may still leave but at least he can see that the organization is making an effort to change the culture.

My dream of Bailey either being traded or demoted to third line might come true.

Go get him Lou. Trotz as HC of the NYI would be nice IMHO.

I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t happen.

From Snow and Weight to Lou and Trotz. Talk about a major upgrade assuming Lou brings him here.

There’s been too much smoke around this for a while; Lou hasn’t hired a coach for a reason. This reminds me of Parcells coming to the Jets.

Trotz brought a defensive focus to DC that it did not have, so I would hire him if I was the Islanders. Having said that, as a Caps fan, I am completely fine with him leaving. I was more worried about Todd Reirden going to the Isles. I had a certain opinion of Trotz for 3.5 years, it changed for a month, now it is back. He is not why the Capitals won a Stanley Cup this year. Again, I still think he would be a good hire for any team though.

I was wondering how many people were going to run here after this news came out. Some of my happiest times were with a "Trots" leading the Islanders, so I'm definitely okay with a Trotz giving it a shot now.

He was reportedly seen in the Newark airport yesterday. Pay the man Lou... I cant fathom having a real NHL GM and head coach on the Island, as well as a franchise QB on the Jets.... Its been forever ... Good times are coming

Funny you say that, but I felt the same when the Jets drafted Darnold. I thought "Hey, my team finally has a franchise QB, why can't the Caps beat the Pens?" I could feel good things coming for my teams. Then the Caps won the Stanley Cup. Now you can start to feel it happening for the Islanders too, especially if they hire Trotz and re-sign Tavares.

Congratulations to Mathew Barzal on winning the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year (getting 160 of 164 first place votes), becoming the fifth Islander to do so (Denis Potvin 1974, Bryan Trottier 1976, Mike Bossy 1978, Bryan Berard 1997). Hopefully in 20 years we'll still be singing the old Sesame Street song "One of these things is not the others" about those guys.
