It is an issue for some fans, I am not discrediting your opinion on that, but in the grand scheme of things, those that don't want to watch cause of the protests make up a very small % in terms of the ratings (IMO, it more than likely is barely noticable). The owners and the media are using the peaceful protests as an excuse to further create a division, at the end of the day, the NFL as a product has deteriorated and they do not want to admit the changes have caused an issue.

I have a co-worker that expressed the same opinions as your brothers, he's a Rams fan ... Rams started winning, he instantly started watching the NFL again, as if the protests never happened. Did I ask him why he started watching again? No, I didn't.

Yes, but you can say when the Twitterer in Chief makes comments about deporting those who protest, it kinda crosses that line.... unfortunately

    Not sure if serious.

    Please reread what you posted.

    Not a first amendment right.

Are you trying to say peacefully protesting isn’t covered by the first amendment?

This isn't a first amendment issue. They are employees of the Jets, so the First Amendment does not apply here. Its the same reason twitter can ban people/delete tweets for conservative viewpoints.

All this is, is the Jets owner saying there wont be any punishment to the player for kneeling/protesting this year. The team gets fined, and that will be the end of it.

Honestly, a very diplomatic response from Chris Johnson. Said he'd prefer the players stand, but wouldnt force them to in any way.

This sums up my feelings. Peacefully protesting is 100% covered under the first amendment, but that's not really what's being discussed here because the Jets are technically a place of business and the players are technically employees. I DO feel though that teams should let their players voice their opinions just like I'm allowed to talk about what a moron Trump is in my office and I don't get fired for it. That's why I love what Johnson is doing. He's supporting his players and when your boss has your back, it makes it way easier to walk into work every morning.

I’m not saying that’s the way I think but I believe that’s the way a lot of people being lumped in as white supremacists and Nazis and the like feel. Folks that never owned slaves, that their families never owned slaved, that fled Nazism and oppression in Europe, that never oppressed blacks or other minorities, but because of the color of their skin have now come under fire.

Unfortunately it comes down to race. If you or the people close to you had to deal with any of these issues, you would be singing a completely different tune. Your daily life and my daily life are completely different and a lot of that has to do with the color of our skin. Everyone wants to turn a blind eye and pretend racism doesn't exist, but it does.

It’s funny because someone just posted the first amendment and clearly didn’t read it nor understand it and still thinks it’s a free speech issue.

Some of these people really need to take a civics class.

We'll have the most cap space of any team come next offseason and this is exactly how you draw big name potential free agents....

BY HAVING A FRONT OFFICE IN WHICH SUPPORTS AND HAS THEIR PLAYERS BACK.

This was a STATEMENT by Johnson and his JETS!

I’ve never said racism , bigotry or any other injustices are not a problem in this country , but I do not agree that kneeling for our anthem and flag is the right way to go about protesting these things .
Men/woman have died protecting that flag , this country ... it was a huge symbol of pride after being recovered from the towers after 911. I don’t think it’s right to disrespect the memories of the dead or our great country like that .
