Because I like the sport. Because I started rooting for the team when I was 9 years old (34 years ago). Because I would like to see the team have success before I'm dead.

The kneeling is preventing you from enjoying the Jets?

The bolded part is what makes the faux outrage here so funny.
None of the Jets even knelt last year.

    Good point on CJ.
It's not an issue here, and I believe his actions will keep it that way. That's good leadership.

No. Not having a QB has prevented me from enjoying the Jets. Having an asshole owner is something that would prevent me from supporting the Jets.

My thought is that if the NFL and teams would just stay out of it this issue would go away.

Why can’t they just simply come out with a statement saying that they disavow kneeling for the national anthem, but believe in creating a work place that allows for freedom of speech?

They don't even need to disavow it, as that takes a stance in itself. Have a statement saying the views of individual players don't reflect those of the league (regardless of cause) and have the players enter the field AFTER the anthem. Seems like a simple remedy to me.

Even if all this were true and it’s not what would that have to do with the national anthem...playing the anthem before games has nothing to do with the police

I was responding to your quote about why nobody airs Cosby re-runs. Which are his comedy/TV shows, not his other work.

The first amendment protects you from any punishment from the government as it relates to free speech. It doesn’t stop your employer from taking action against you if they don’t like what you’re saying

Example: if someone yells the N word outside their office they can’t be arrested. But the company would be well within their rights to fire that person

Wasting your bandwidth. Most folks don’t understand this. It’s because they stopped teaching civics in SCHOOL.

FREE SPEECH! I can say whatever I want whenever I want!

    FFFFUUUUCCCCKKK IT’S IN THE CONSTITUTION!!

Or the Declaration of Independance or the Bible or some other shit I didn’t read!!

    Pretty sure.

OK thanks for explaining that. As I understand it the 1st amendment is viewed as sacrosanct by Americans? With that being the case then, how is an employer extending those 1st amendment rights to his employees in the work place suddenly a bad thing?

Well then I wonder how long it will be before the full force and treasury of the National Football League will be brought upon Captain Ortiz of the MIami-Dade Police Department, a living example of how NOT to operate as a law enforcement officer.

Well fuck off then, who wants to read your tripe on a jets forum when you couldn't care enough to watch a game through choice.

Fuck me racists are getting dumber and dumber, if that is possible of course.

Out of interest just why do you have the national anthem before every game ?

Football you get it on cup final day only.

Just stop playing the anthem. Why the hell does it need to be played before every sporting event as if there was some political statement to be made? This doesn't happen anywhere else in the world and it doesn't happen before Broadway shows, rock concerts or any other TV shows than sports. People go to sporting events to watch the competition not to be bombarded by jingoistic displays that one side feels they have more of a right to control than any other.

The National Anthem does not represent law enforcement, the military or any other small slice of the American Pie - it represents all of us and as long as its being played contributes to the fractionalization rather than unification of all our people I don't need to hear it in any stadium.

It's hard to see how Christopher Johnson's announcement does anything but encourage protests, so I can only hope no players choose to take him up on his offer. It's frustrating that politics has been injected into many peoples escape from politics- and other real life issues.
