http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-j...ees-some-tony-romo-in-jets-rookie-sam-darnold Romo was a tease. A guy who can get you to a pivotal game and blow it in the end. Or the guy who can play stellar in the regular season but never get his team to the show. Hope Witten is right to a certain extent.
Sam will be better than Romo like Garropolo was at Romos College Witten is trying to get off to a good start in the booth plugging his fellow Cowboy/broadcaster Romo...Bowles "a great communicator???"..obviously Jason W not seen our pressers with him
Sometimes a QB can do everything right and still not win the Super Bowl. He choked a bit early on but I will take Romo 2.0 anytime. He was good enough to win you a Super bowl, but he's team wasn't . Just don't let Darnold be a holder for FG or extra points!!!!
It's not the first time I've heard a former pro bowl player give praise to Todd Bowles. Ex Packers receiver James Jones loves Todd Bowles too. http://www.nfl.com/videos/up-to-the...ones-Todd-Bowles-should-win-Coach-of-the-Year
We should be thrilled if Darnold is as good as Romo. Romo was a damn good QB. If we can get Romo type play with better crunch time genes, I'd be thrilled.
A healthy Romo was a very good QB. I'll take that production from Darnold with a few more playoff wins and a Lombardi Trophy or two.
He's been compared to Romo a number of times. When healthy Romo was a top qb. As a Jet fan you take that. Romo was prone for a late turnover when attempting to comeback late in games. Lets hope Darnold doesn't compare in that way but every other way I'd take that for the next 15 years. Be competitve and in position for a Super Bowl if we could get the right surrounding pieces.
Dude has as many playoff games as Sanchez. In more seasons. He put up great stats but he didn’t have the killer instinct that a true champion has. Here’s hoping for something better.
Or. Or. Orrrr. Maybe it's his TEAM in which never had that "killer instinct"? All-Time? Only Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Tom Brady have a better regular season All-Time QB Rating. He's also 11th All-Time in postseason QB Rating. Come on. Football is a team game. You can not say Romo lacked a killer instinct when his defenses were powder puff 99.9% of the time.... D.Ware and WHO ELSE?!?
This is a non nonsensical argument. Brady is the GOAT, no argument, but was helped by a great team, solid defense, superb coaching and fortuitous opportunities to supplement his incredible talents. Seattle SB win rings a bell? Fake forward pass against Oakland? Snowplow change? . Its a team that wins the SB, not just the QB. I supposed Marino sucked as a QB for the same reason. As many other great QBs, Tarkenton, Jim Kelley, Dan Fouts, Jim Everrett, among others. . Yet Flacco who stumbled upon a SB because of a great defensive team is all of the sudden better than Romo....in what planet? Utter nonsense. If Sam plays like Romo, it will be the best QB we have had since 1968 and a true winner that we should cherish. Its time to build a winning team around him because he will not win shit on his own, no more than any other QB...including Brady.
Well when you make a comparison like that you're clearly alluding to Romo's positive traits. I doubt that Witten meant, "I think Darnold, like Romo, will turn out to be a postseason choke artist."
Did not feel bad for Romo at the time. Still don't. Tell ya why. It was worth it to see Parcells who gave me nothing die inside. Tony Romo for President was all I had to say. As a Jets fan, I generally feel bad for no-one.
Br*dy without Belichick is a fart in the history of the NFL. He is in no way the GOAT. he is however a perfect example of why winning or losing should not be attributed as a QB stat. If Darnold shows Romo level talent, we'll have a lot to work with. The rest is up to the team to capitalize on that.
