I agree. All the smoke screens and crap have been going on for months, but I really don't see how you don't go Darnold #1. If he busts, you can at least say he was the consensus #1 pick. (He won't bust by the way) If you take Allen or Mayfield and they bust: You continue being the biggest joke in sports.
It almost feels like that. Like, after almost 50 years of wandering in the wilderness without a clue of how to find a QB, the gods finally are saying "ENOUGH! Give 'em fucking Rosen and end their suffering!" Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking on steroids.
I am not off the Mayfield train. I am merely just wondering if he is all about football. Watch behind baker and then make a decision. To me, it was a little concerning, but certainly not a deal breaker.
Yeah and last week it was down to Darnold and Allen. It's obvious the Browns are just trying to make their picks seem more valuable for trade purposes. The Browns will take Darnold, if they don't I will just laugh at them.
Baker "Smokescreen" Mayfield seems to be the guy every team seem to be leaking to the media as having interest in.
OR they watch his film, combine it with his advances metrics and realize he has a high chance at succeeding. But I do agree that this is 100% a smokescreen by the Browns. No coincidence this report comes out the same day that Dorsey says they haven't received any decent offers for the first overall pick.
Yes, it took them until a couple of weeks prior to the draft to watch film and finally realize that Mayfield should be in consideration for the #1 pick.
Let me start by saying the report is most likely BS. That being said, it's a little foolish to correlate that day a report comes out with the day it actually happened.
All I know is that Mayfield should get a cut from all the teams that have been using him as a smokescreen this draft season. You know the saying if you have multiple starting QBs then you really have none? I think in similarly if multiple teams are supposedly leaking that you are in the picture for their pick, then you are really heading for a slide on draft day.
If I can be honest, this is a terrible comparison. Especially considering you're assuming everything pro-Mayfield is a smokescreen. I mean the film, the stats, the impressive visits... why would interest in him not be real?
He wouldn't be a believable smokescreen without the bold. That doesn't change the fact he ended up being nothing more than a smokescreen, if I'm right.
