No way they carry 5 QB's. TB, McCown, Petty, Hack and QB X. Not enough chairs to go around for sure..I see two from that group walking the plank.
If the Jets draft a rookie QB and don't cut Hack and Petty, they'd have 5 QBs! Rookie, McCown, Teddy, Petty, Hack. I don't understand why they haven't already cut Petty. He's clearly not the answer. Give him a chance to hook on with another team or more likely, move on to the next phase of his life.
I personally think that the writing is on the wall for Petty, even if the jets don't draft a QB, he's as good as gone. Hack will stay for the off chance that he might improve enough to start one day.
If they had ANY kind of faith in Hackenberg, they would not have signed both McCown and Bridgewater. Clearly drafting a QB in the draft. I say 1st Round, but at some point they will no matter what. So there is no room for Hackenberg now. He will catch on at his next place and likely play well. Just did not work in New York and Bowles/Mac don't have time to wait since their jobs are on the line. As for Petty: not sure why he is still on the roster. Great kid, though.
yeah its clear. After they draft a quarterback they will cut Petty. They'll roll into camp with McCown, Bridgewater, Rookie and Hackenberg. Barring injury hackenberg will be cut in training camp. They may try to put him on the practice squad though
I see Hack as being a longshot to stick only if Macc doesn't draft a QB in the first round. Petty was gone after the last game of the season but for reasons known only to Macc, is still on the roster.
It's not like I think he has a legitimate shot anywhere, but I think it's pretty crappy that Macc hasn't released Petty, on the off chance that he could hook on somewhere. Not much harm if he does it immediately after the draft, I guess, but it would be a real douche move to not release him before OTAs and such, especially since he's been nothing but a good soldier.
