Means to me that if the jets did up their offer which was reported yesterday, it probably wasn't significantly. Also, wonder how much no income tax plays if the numbers were similar.

Also, something to think about is how much does TE factor in with Bates' offense? it does not seem like a high priority IMO.

Jordan Leggett is going to have to get up to speed quick

Lovely! Only Mac could go into FA season and wind up with the TE position being worse instead of better. Fire his ass! ASJ is going to have a big year. Mark it down.

Not imo. I think ASJ is gonna put up big numbers this year, and Mac is gonna look like even more of a moron than he already does.

Agreed if ASJ only got 2yr/10M and then has a monster year. My hope is that ASJ looked as good as he did to many because of how putrid the spot had been of late and past coordinators alleged neglect of the TE

I think with Enunwa coming back since hes that match up nightmare like a big , fast TE can be, the Jets are probably looking for a solid blocking TE first and foremost

Overrated by our fanbase because we haven't had an AVERAGE tight end for so long. Good luck to ASJ, good guy and an even better sorry.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I could wind up being wrong, but right now, I don't think I am. Mac created a hole by trying to be cheap. $7 million per season is the going rate for TEs, and ASJ signed for $5 million. We have the cap space. I still think Mac could have done an incentive-based contract that would have protected the team if ASJ didn't play well or was injured, but would have given ASJ the chance to make the money he wanted. I think it was more about just being shown some respect and not being lowballed.

I thought $7 million/year for a below-average tight end was ridiculous, and apparently the rest of the league agreed. The Jets probably offered something similar, and the combination of the income tax advantage and the opportunity to play on a far better team was enough to entice him away. Good luck to him, and I certainly hope that going back to Florida isn't the worst mistake of his life.

maybe ASJ just wanted to warm his balls in FL. Hes an ok player who faded second half of last year. My point is youre a little too excited about this one either way.....players like this change teams all the time....

I have to disagree with you. ASJ AVERAGED 27 YARDS PER GAME.
    1 play over 20 yards
That can easily be matched by Leggett.
