Exactly, my guess is Bridgewater is just insurance, in case they can't move up in the draft or one doesn't of the top QBs don't fall to them.

Doesn't make one ounce of sense to have McCown and Bridgewater 1 year deals

    Facts:
    - 2 QBs were just added to the roster via FA.
    - 2 QBs were already on the roster.
    - 1 of those 2 has been protected from early exposure to the point of ridiculousness, for 2 years!
    - In 2018 the Jets do NOT have a need at QB.
    - The Jets have multiple needs

Knowing these facts I find it hard to believe they just cut Hack after the extremes they have went to to protect him. I genuinely don't think this is a case of Macs ego, I think they truly believe he has the ability to develop. I think by virtue of bringing McCown back could further solidify that point.

So many of you want this prospect that you hope can flash and have uncle Josh there to help him along. The thing is so does Bowles and Mac, it just doesn't happen to be a rookie, it's Bridgewater whether you like it or not. This Teddy deal ONLY makes sense if they're hoping for something long term, if not what's the point in the signing?

I can’t see a scenario where Petty even sees training camp. Hack perhaps if they don’t draft a QB, but they aren’t carrying 4 QB’s and they aren’t cutting any of the three they just signed. The Hack experiment has the real possibility of coming to an end without him ever taking a regular season snap as a Jet QB.

That is a colossal GM fuck up job.

That would be a dream come true. But when in history has a starter gone to 3rd string within a single offseason, barring significant injury at the QB position?

Without looking, I feel that this has probably happened to the Redskins at least 3 or 4 times over their history.... It just sounds like the Redskins.

    Ideal looks like:
Teddy 100% back, uncle Josh talking sense into Crowell, #6 Barkley, Crowell is traded for $1 pizza

The way I see it, Petty is as good as gone. Hack still has a small chance to prove himself.

Okay. I just don't think it's defined by these moves. They could like several guys and will work towards getting one. If anything, what has gone on tells me they're done with Petty/Hack and anything is still possible. It's safe to say that they really wanted Cousins, not these two.. Maybe McCown to back up Cousins.
I'm looking forward now to see really where all these QB's slot in on the boards. I'm not convinced they're all going before the 6th pick or even deserve to be. But just because they rate say a Darnold at the top doesn't mean they won't take a different guy at 6 or later.

Crowell is going nowhere, get over it. Bill also gets traded for a 5th.

The only silver lining today is that the guy who replaced Mac and the guy who replaces Bowles will have cap space and a high pick to work with in 2019

Hold on there partner. I see it as we are going defense at 6. Slubb will be the Jets pick and Macc will carry his mega mistake Hackenberg another year. They have their franchise QB in McCown (wait while I throw up) and a back up in the wings. What they don't have is a pass rush. So McCown and Bridgewater are temps and the Jets will be in perpetual QB hunting mode for life.

Hackenburg will have to prove to be worth a damn. Bridgewater's and McCown's job to lose. I agree with the idea we might draft a late QB again

I view the signing of bridgewater as Macc’s cop out if we somehow don’t draft a QB in round 1. A lot of it will depend on how the draft breaks and which teams opt to draft QB. We should all be praying that only 3 teams go QB within the first 5, but my impression is that the bills will be very heavy players with al the draft capital they have. Jets will most likely have to trade up and I think Macc is going to be willing to, but only to a certain extent. I would assume that if we somehow do land a QB, that’s when we will see hack and petty cut as there’s 0 reason to carry more than 3 QB’s.

If we somehow miss out on QB, the qbs will be McCown, bridgewater, hack

Bridgewater and McCown isn't a plan. It's a last resort. Their franchise QB still isn't on the roster.

Everything I've seen and read about Mac suggests this is exactly the case.

By the way, is Hack still PS eligible? I know the rules were changed a few years back. They will keep him around for camp for sure.

I have no idea if he is PS eligible. I wonder if he was put on the PS, if he would even last. For as disappointing as he’s been, he’s physically gifted and only 23. I’d imagine that some team will try to claim him.

This draft is going to be the most stressful draft in a long long time
