Jets to sign Trumaine Johnson

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by grkmanga31, Mar 13, 2018.

  1. Very happy about this signing.Top end corner who isn’t totally dependent on his speed for success which means he’ll still be productive into his 30s.Fits Bowles scheme perfectly.

Still need to sign 1 possibly 2 more corners.Mght even stay away from Claibourne all together

Forget Cousins, he got way overpaid. He is never going to live up to that contract and I am glad we didn't sign him.

2015 seems to have been his best yr. Gave up over 750 yds last yr to rank 5th worst in the league and has not had many ints ,since 2015. Average player we had to over pay for but he does make us a better team.

IM confused by this fan base.

How much do y’all know about this player?

Statistically he was one of the worst CB’s last year. Wasn’t great the year before either. Serviceable though, not great.

Curious on the length of the contract. I feel like the same people that hate on Mac so much over the Revis and Mo contracts, are the same ones cheering this signing.

Gots me confused. Not really, I expect it on this forum, still...

    Sigh.

    Awesome. Well done Mac.
Now sign Teddy and let's draft a QB at 6. Screw the whiners.

  10. He has a very high reputation throughout the league for being one of the best DBs w the ball in the air/contested 50/50 throws. He also has 18 picks in 6 seasons. Team captain & fits Bowles scheme perfectly.

Is he a shut down corner? No.In fact I’d say he’s more like a plus #2 corner. But he’s a good match up DB who’s a great fit who will also bring more leadership to the locker room.

    Did we overpay?You bet.

Trumaine vs Butler who would you guys who have watched both say is the better CB going forward?

I know its null and void since Butler to the Titans just wondering for value sake

He had nine penalties on the year, seven were in playing his position which is pretty high but if the rules committee gives the DB's a little more room to play he could be in a good place. (The other two were unsportsmanlike and unnecessary roughness.)

Butler had a bad year last season. I don't know that whole situation with Butler was weird. Belichick for all his genius made an unforgivable mistake benching him. He pretty much outsmarted himself. Overall Butler did not have a great season. Going forward I'd take Trumaine.
