All three of them were a #1 candidate prior to the Combine. None of them was coming out of the skivvy show.
I would be an ex-Jets fan if they draft a G instead of a QB if Mayfield or Jackson are still on the borad.
Nelson> Jackson or mayfield. I would take that pick in a minute and either try to come back up for Jackson or take falk in the 2nd and be very happy
I know Nelson is rated very highly but he won't influence a game more than a QB. I might agree on your approach and taking Jackson with the next pick, but not Mayfield...he won't be there.
True enough he won't. I think one thing most can agree on. MM has to come out of this offseason with some sort of direction at QB ..wether it be having Cousins signed or getting a QB in RD.1. I don't think he will survive the season if he drafts a guy who is deemed developmental...he played that game and got burned...badly. if it's a pick they can't just be Hackenberg part 2 where he sits developing for 2 years.. oh the rage in new York if that happens. Lol.
I remember something much different. Quinn I think was probably the highest regarded. Bridgewater was a top 10 projected before his last year. Manziel had big question marks and there was not a concesus he would be a top 10 pick. Out of all 3 of those, Darnold is regarded much higher than all of those 3. There is absolutely zero question that Darnold will be a top 5-10 pick.
And that's why this wallflower chose to play at little "Southern Cal Community College" located in the nation's 2nd largest media market and whose home field is the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and why 14 other teams will pass on him. ((translation: . walterfootball: .clickbaiting retards). https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...up-perfectly-to-win-another-nfl-draft-season/ ^ cbssports.com has South Dakota St. TE Dallas Goedert going to the Saints in the 1st round. walterfootball has Goedert going as a 5th round pick. Goedert may not go in the 1st round, but I have a better chance of seeing God than does Goedert lasting past the 2nd-3rd round. . (walterfootball: .clickbaiting retards).
I never say impossible. lets not forget rodgers was supposed to go possibly 1st overall and fell to 24. plenty of people fall in the draft. Essentially you are trying to predict what 32 people are going to do, none of which want to show their hand. There isn't a single mock drafter and there never will be one, that predicts the 1st round exactly as it winds up being. it's pretty much all for entertainment and discussion for fans
I get that, and that's what makes the lead up to the draft fun, but still, if Darnold falls to 6 and MAcc doesn't take him, (assuming he hasn't signed Cousins) then he should be fired on the spot. Woody/Chris should send security folks in and escort Macc out of the building. If they've already signed Cousins, I still don't see Darnold falling to 15 - some QB-need y team will trade up to get him.
One of Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers was going to go first overall. The other guy was predicted to drop out of the 15 based on who was looking at QB's that year. The 49ers chose the guy out of the Spread Option over the guy out of the Bear Raid. FWIW Alex Smith looked like a QB and talked like one in his interviews and Aaron Rodgers looked like Aaron Rodgers and presumably interviewed like him also. I'm not surprised the 49ers decided Smith was the better pick given his height advantage and conformist personality.
What many forget is not necessarily where they came from, but how they were developed. McCarthy implemented a development program for his QBs when he was hired as HC of GB. He made some minor adjustments to Rodgers mechanics and put him on track to becoming who he is today. I think it's very simplistic to blame the college program that these QBs are using as an argument against them, some of these guys don't get the proper transitional development that is needed to become good pro QBs, and yes some of them are not mentally capable of making that transition even if Bill Walsh was coaching them. Alex Smith is and Aaron Rodgers are good examples of this.
If the Jets traded up for Rosen, or even took him at 6 I'd riot.... I'm willing to bet you Allen is the better pro than Rosen. I think you got it backwards.
I would be if they took Nelson over Mayfield, but would rather have Nelson than Jackson. I think Jackson will be a bust at QB, will get seriously injured trying to run, or will wind up switching to WR.
Sam Darnold would have to walk into the green room with a bong to fall to 15. That is just not realistic at all.
