According to NFL.com 49ers wrapped up Jimmyy G, 5 years 137.5 million. Wonder how much of it is guaranteed and if there are any other offsets. Cousins is going to command north of 150 mil IMO
Wow. I don't doubt he's going to be a very good QB, but still, a guy with pretty limited starting experience just became the highest paid player in NFL History
sets the market for Cousins ... 5 yrs 150, that's what I see for Cousins ... shit if I could add an extra year to spread the cap space around and make things easier do it ... as long as you have an out ... pay him as much as possible the first year.
Yep, I'd go 5-6 years, but have an out after 3 years, front load the shit out of the contract as to mitigate any problems. QB's are just going to get more and more expensive so this is just the beginning.
Jacoby Brissett has the same amount of rings as Aaron Rodgers. Jimmy has twice the amount of rings as Rodgers. What is your point?
wow..we are not getting Cousins..there are good teams with plenty of money, why would he come here? Those odds are only slightly better than Bell's.
Jimmy Garoppolo took a 1-10 49ers team on a 5 game winning streak, and beat the Jags and Titans during that run. Put up 37 points on the Jags defense. Yeah he's all hype.
Cousins - 49ers have Jimmy G $137 million! Team - then you should have signed with the 49ers. But you’re here talking to us. It’s not hard to dismiss an unreasonable demand.
Not when other teams are willing to appease the unreasonable demand. A QB getting $27.5m per with 7 starts and 12 TDs is definitely going to translate to a QB getting ~$30m per with 57 starts and 99 TDs.
Yes, that is true. We have no idea if any teams will collectively panic and look to outbid others for Cousins or whether they have a value in their minds that Jimmy G’s deal doesn’t alter. He can point to Jimmy G’s deal, other teams can point to other QB deals and advise those QB’s are better.
That is just insanely difficult to do. At most he can point back to a year previous with Stafford and Carr. But, in this business you cannot retroactively point back years to salaries when negotiating. It is just not successful. Things change so much.
I don’t know what the redskins record is against play off caliber teams. I know the jets beat the afccg runner ups this year though. Same team you are toying jimmmy g for beating so not sure what your point is there On the same note, frank Reich orchestrated the greatest playoff come back in history. You haven’t seen it on his hof plaque?
