Him and Bates worked in Denver under Shanahan. The way I see this, Bates will focus on QB and passing game and Rick Dennison will focus on run game. Let's see how this work out. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...o-hire-rick-dennison-as-run-game-coordinator/ Report: Jets expected to hire Rick Dennison as run-game coordinator Posted by Charean Williams on January 26, 2018, 3:51 PM EST The Jets are expected to hire Rick Dennison as their run-game coordinator and offensive line coach, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Bills fired Dennison as offensive coordinator after the wild-card playoff loss to Jacksonville when they failed to score a touchdown. Dennison joined the Bills after the team hired Sean McDermott as head coach last year, and Dennison oversaw a unit that finished 29th in total yards and 22nd in points in 2017. Dennison worked with new Jets offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates in Denver. He has spent 23 seasons coaching in the NFL, mostly in Denver, but also with stops in Houston and Baltimore as well as Buffalo.
I'm not sure what kind of linemen the Jets have, but Dennison runs the old Denver zone blocking scheme with lighter linemen. It was a disaster in Buffalo but maybe it will work better with the Jets.
I'm ok with this. Would rather have a former NFL OC working with the line and designing run schemes than some dude nobody's ever heard of like Steve Marshall.
sounds like the jets are gearing up to run the ball 40-45 times a games next year. can't say i'm excited for it but if it gets us wins i'll live with it
Jets have already implemented a ZBS over the last 2 seasons. It makes sense to bring in someone w exposure to shanahan’s scheme which is the best in the business. Not just for gameday but also rebuilding this OL w the proper pieces. Still hate the title “running game coordinator” & the last thing I wanna see is another conservative run heavy offense..but assume for now jets are moving toward a more balanced attack that has a running game that can protect a young QB. We’ll see
I can’t wait for some more ground n’ pound. I hope we also sign an Exotic Blitz Co-ordinator so I can relive the last fucking ten years all over again.
meh, whatever. not going to get over emotional about a positional coach. we'll see what they add personnel wise before i get too excited one way or the other
Wow all these outstanding moves. I'm tired of all the winning already. When are they gonna hire a defensve coordinator? Its been an open position since 2015.
We wont be successful because we dont have a good line and our runningbacks are just okay. I really think if we rack up more 3 and outs on offense then its gonna get ugly fast. The resulting record has me guessing that Bowles will be gone 100% after next year.
