I do not agree with the theory that you don’t win with D anymore, I mean look at 3 of the 4 teams still standing for proof.

With that said if Mac can’t fill in the pieces and Bowles can’t coach this D up to be championship caliber with the amount already invested in it then they both gotta go. Once and for all the Jets need to invest some high choices into the offense.

It's worth noting that the Eagles became the number 1 seed largely because of a high powered O led by Wentz. This is a scoring league. The days of winning 13-10 games are long gone.

Of course you need defense...no one is saying otherwise, but FIRST you need to be able to score, to mount comebacks when your vaunted defense gives up the inevitable score in today's SCORING-DRIVEN NFL. And even more so given the Jets mediocre defense despite a decade of drafts and money put into it.

It's long past time to stop putting the cart before the horse.

^ I would drop Claiborne for a Bashaud Breeland at CB. More durable and solid in man coverage.

Its not a very attractive list for the Jets outside of Cousins, a few corners and some centers. Jets don't really need any receivers. List is strong there.

Ryan Jensen C Baltimore would be a great addition.
Will prob take a lot of cash to pry him away from Baltimore tho.
Richburg another good option. I would want to come out of FA with one of them.

Andrew Norwell G Carolina would also be a great addition, although we may be better served drafting a G (cough Q Nelson cough)..

I am not sure how far we can spread $100 million but here is my shopping list:

3 Drew Brees QB NO 39 Contract Voids
    4 Demarcus Lawrence 4-3 DE DAL 26
11 Sheldon Richardson DT SEA 27
    13 Andrew Norwell G CAR 26
14 Allen Robinson WR JAX 25
17 Kyle Fuller CB CHI 26
46 Star Lotulelei DT CAR 28
48 Avery Williamson ILB TEN 26
54 Demario Davis ILB NYJ 29
56 Morris Claiborne CB NYJ 28
58 Josh McCown QB NYJ 39

    61 Junior Galette 3-4 OLB WAS 30
    62 Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE NYJ 25
    63 Weston Richburg C NYG 27
    69 Kony Ealy 3-4 OLB NYJ 26
92 Donte Moncrief WR IND 25
98 Jeremy Hill RB CIN 25

There are a lot of corners available so I wouldn't mind upgrading Claiborne if we can't get the home town discount. We also need a nickel but that might have to wait until the draft.

that list has a lot of potential upgrades. I'd go after Ezekiel Ansah for sure. He would be the edge rusher we haven't had since Abraham. He would be expensive but worth it. One good pass rusher and this defense looks a lot different.

I wouldn’t touch brees. 39 and has been playing 11 games a year in nice weather.
Lawrence I agree but doubt he gets to fa. Ansah might be a more realistic option, I think we are ok at wr.
I agree with the rest though

If Ansah or Lawrence are available and translate to a 3-4 well, either would be a great addition. Otherwise, they need to go OLB before the end of Round 2

Good year for FA CBs. Malcolm Butler, Trumaine Johnson, Rashaan Melvin, Bashaud Breeland, Kyle Fuller and possibly others should be looked into. Whether they sign one, two, or draft another will depend on if they resign Claiborne or retain Skrine. If they keep both, they should still consider a FA or a Day 2 pick on a CB

Need a Center. Ryan Jensen and Weston Richburg should be top targets. If Andrew Norwell gets free, they could also get crazy and sign him and release Carpenter.

Prefer to keep this WR group in tact. Let's not forget that Enunwa was looking like a potential number 1 WR pre-injury. Also prefer a young RB via the draft than a FA. I'm cool with giving Powell more of the load too. He shouldn't be getting 40 touches a game, but he is chronically underplayed.

Unless they really like Cooper and Ealy as replacements, a reasonable starter at DE would be a good idea.

Nickell Robey-Coleman would be a nice option as a nickel corner. He is small but he is good in the slot and he's a playmaker. He would come pretty cheap

What's Claiborne asking for will be the question. If he's asking for like 7 to 8M a year, I might be wary

Ansah might not be the right fit for a defense that wants their linebackers to get to the QB. Has Ansah ever played outside linebacker? God help him if he has to ever cover.

I really don't see Brees leaving the Saints, but it is something to ponder just in case he is looking for another team. We have to consider all quarterback options heading into this important off-season. Drew Brees being 39 doesn't scare me. He seems to be aging slowly like he's on the TB12 method.

Would put some money into Solder as much to upgrade our o line as to get him away from NE.
