I don't know if the Mets have the pieces to match up but it would be great. My dream at this point is Harrison and Lucroy. Get rid of Darnaud and get a real catcher in here who we know doesn't have an injury history.

More evidence about the complete lack of faith the Mets have in Smith as they sign Adrian Gonzalez. There are even reports that they could be interested in re-signing Lucas Duda. Smith must be far worse than anyone expected.

    Todd Frazier to the Mets.

    2 years, 17 million

He was a real good player in 2012, 2014, and 2015, but has been exceedingly mediocre the last couple of years. If the Mets gets the 2015 Frazier at third and the 2016 Cabrera at second this is a real upgrade from last year, but if they get the 2017 versions of both of them it's hard to see them winning 90 games with this lineup.

I don't see how Frazier is worth the money. He's been declining for several seasons.

Isn't 2 years at 17 million basically welfare in baseball?

Here's some pointless nonsense from Mets camp. A couple of hours ago Sandy Alderson said the following to reporters about Tim Tebow: "I think he will play in the Major Leagues."

    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...y-in-mlb-one-day-mets-gm-sandy-alderson-says/

Personally I have been completely indifferent to the entire Tim Tebow saga, as the travails of a non-roster spring training invitee and player at the single-A level are of no importance whatsoever to me. And I've also felt the crying about how he's "taking away at bats from real players" is also absurd - anyone who has a legitimate shot is not going to be expelled from the organization because of this guy. But to go on record that a 30-year-old outfielder with an OPS of .656 at the single-A level will play in the major leagues is so ridiculously idiotic that I can only imagine it's because Alderson is already planning something stupid like a September callup. How about worrying about the real ballplayers, Sandy, and not this kind of crap?

    Can never have enough Tebow.

Cannot believe I now have to deal with Tebowmania with another one of my teams. I don’t know what I’ve done to piss off the sports gods but I’m sorry, I am sorry for whatever I’ve done.

The Circus makes money, and I believe this is just another version of what the Jets tried to do with Tebow.

It's enough to crush a fans spirit.

I went and saw them play the Braves in Orlando 2 weeks ago..... Harvey's debut (didnt look bad)
Timmy went 0/2 (lined out to deep center, and hit into a DP) and LOTS of IPAs in the sun

Ball looked good coming out of Harvey's hand today, looked live. His body language looks a lot better the last couple of starts too.
    Fingers crossed.

    Thor and deGrom: check

Very sad news about Rusty. I vividly remember that 1973 season, when he and the pitching staff carried the team to the pennant (Wayne Garrett had a deceptively good season that year also, while Felix Millan had a deceptively poor one). He then messed up his shoulder on a game-saving catch in game 4 of the NLCS against the Reds, but still had a brilliant postseason, with a 1.096 OPS. He of course then came back and was a pinch hitter extraordinaire in the first half of the 1980s.

It's truly remarkable how horrible M. Donald Grant was in tearing apart the Mets of the 1970s due to his cheapness, racism, and perhaps homophobia. The Wilpons may suck, but Fred will always get credit from me for extracting the Mets (with Nelson Doubleday) from that mess.

    RIP Rusty.

RIP Le Grande Rouge--thanks for the awesome memories.

As an adult I can appreciate the mental and physical preparation necessary for such pinch-hitting success and will reference Rusty as a role model for my son.

Nice game for the Mets, other than Thor giving up a couple of home runs. Mets are 37-12 in their last 49 opening days.

Really great game today. If the pen can be that reliable all season, the Mets should be in good shape.
