Just curious...not likely by any means...but if he goes 3-0 with decent stats. Say 650 yards, 6 TDs, 1 rushing TD, 2 INT, and >60% completion.
3-0 against 3 playoff contenders with this shoddy protection? Pipe dream, it is. And a shitty one at that. That said, if that's not a QB screaming 'FRANCHISE' I don't know what is. =========================================================== If Petty pulls that off, I'm taking a fucking CENTER in the first round and shitcan Wesley Johnson. First thing in the long To-Do list. And yes. That means Jets should fire Bowles after the Black Monday. [Best chance to win, my ass.]
If Petty goes 3-0 while putting up great stats, and he does this against all teams vying for playoff position, then he deserves to be on the cover of Madden next season. Cman60 will wipe a tear away like a proud poppa, as Petty is carried of the field in New England.
3-0 with this schedule, with those stats? He's going into camp the starter. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Okay, I'll play - if things go that way he is clearly the starter. Of course, if that happens, one of two things will then occur: either he will stink it up next year, or he will be great and will refuse to sign long term with the team because of the ridiculous way they've treated him, and the Jets will be in Kirk Cousins-style franchise player hell for the next few years. Because this is the Jets, after all.
If Petty goes 3-0 you fire Bowles before he gets to the locker room after the final game because he clearly has no clue how to evaluate QB’s.
Stats you gave he is the clear starter. Answer this question though: What if he looks pretty good? Makes nice passes. Reads the defenses. Hits Anderson for a bomb or two, spreads the ball to Kearse, ASJ and the rookies. Shows he has truly progressed. Loses all 3 games though as each is difficult. Then it is a tough situation.
In my view them winning or losing is completely irrelevant. If what you describe happens he is the starter going into training camp, and gets to impress the new coach, since Bowles must be fired immediately. Meanwhile, whoever the GM is (maybe Macc, maybe not) makes picks that are best for the team, which might or might not be a QB. As I've already said, I expect him to struggle big-time, so it's all moot anyway.
“A snowballs chance in Hell” Fixed it for ya ahahaha Sometimes I think when you are a rabid Fan of a particular player it causes you to enter into a state of Brief Delusional Disorder
Petty doesn't need to go 3-0 - it only takes a little common sense to see how he does. If he throws a few TD"s and no INT's then have him compete as a starter.....but I would still draft a QB if in fact Mac has one he loves and he's able to grab him.
