I don't think the team was ever going to be as bad as the media said it would be. On the flip side, it's clear that Bowles isn't anywhere near the coach that the media is currently saying that he is either. The media tends to operate at the two extremes and then allows that coverage to inform their coverage later on in the season. This Jets team was never going to be bad enough to go 0-16. These were not the Lions of a few years ago nor are they anywhere near the laughingstock that the Browns have been recently. But, now that the media had done their part over the summer spinning that story that this team was historically bad, we now have to endure article after article about how Bowles is some genius for coaching the team above those unrealistically low expectations. Has Bowles done some things right this year? Sure. He got the team to buy in to the whole "us vs. the world" mentality and it fueled the team early. But his negatives far outweigh the positives. Selling the us vs. the world mantra is something any decent coach should be able to do, but Bowles has shown time and time again that he can't make adjustments and is so ultra-conservative that it wouldn't surprise you to see him punt on 3rd down. His teams are too often unprepared and don't look like they have even the slightest hint of a clue, which was evident today in Denver.
It was the same show in the Giant game a defensive coach playing it safe, not wanting to make a mistake, just hang around and hope something good happens at the end, you can’t coach that way today. The Jets have been through this with the last 4 coaches, Herm ( can’t wait for Arizona State to get a load of his BS act) Mangini, always hoping for a close game, Rex always happy with a 6-3 final score and saying Mark gives us our best chance to win, and now this shitshow behind 13-0 at halftime, not using one timeout to possibly make something good happen. This has to END
Yeah, the coaches are REALLY doing "something right" to have won 2 more games than the lowest expectations!
Sinking to new lows with this shitshow when people are happy we have 5 wins and did absolutely nothing to develop a young QB, kept a 38 yr old stiff in the game even though he was god awful and hurt 3 times rather than let the kid play, bye bye Turd!
Well, here we have it..the worst offensive showing in Jets history against a terrible 4-9 Denver team. Let's hear again about how Bowels and MacGAGnan deserve to be back for another year. At least the Giants were smart enough to pull the plug as soon as they saw the writing on the wall. Too bad the J&J boys aren't.
Don, running draw plays the whole 4th qtr instead of letting the kid throw, running out the half when you were still in the game, bye Turd!
Might as well have got Petty to kneel, I went to bed just watched the 4th quarter, why is the hell is Winters still playing on one leg and with an abdominal injury, lining up next to the cone.......oh we cant run the ball, no shit Sherlock I wonder why.....
Ya think?? Blowes for whatever reason hates Petty and sets him up for failure regularly with rarely ever a word of support or acknowledgement of the work Petty is putting in.
Today's game had nothing to do about level of talent and everything to do about play calling, or better, calling absolutely the wrong game.
When Mcclown went out the first time, he never should've been put back into the game. He was hurt and useless and grimacing after every pass. It was a bit selfish of Mcclown to continue to play and hurt his team like that if he couldn't play but its more on the coaches as they are the ones tasked with recognizing that. His first pass back he just chucked it up to avoid getting hit again and cost his team in what turned out to be their opportunity on Denver's side of the field! that he was allowed to come back after that was unacceptable. and the punting decisions, pure trash
The "decision" to not use any timeouts to end the 1st half was worse than any punt call...... Sad, stupid, or both?
I would have punted, too, You have a Jets team that is not performing on both sides of the ball, but especially poorly on offense. There's no point in risking giving Denver a short field to add to their lead when you know the odds of making a 1st down are slim and none. A better option is to punt and hope for a turnover which has been Denver's undoing this season.
I don't know why we should expect Bowles or even Petty to be decent. Bring up the fact that Bowles mismanaged the clock at the end of the second half or that he punted twice when 23 down.... you will get the same "Oh, he's got no talent to work with" excuses. It's like Sexy Rexy's last couple of years. Pathetic.
Hit me pretty hard too. Last week we took the punch and stayed the course, this week we turtle up down 13? There is too much inconsistency for a coach that tries to stay even keeled. Whole team knew we were done when we kneeled out the half.
Bowels biggest problem is his management of the clock the guy is some sort of moron when it comes to this. Please fire this fool
