There is always risk but you blatantly ignore the cost and injury issue but if you don't like my opinion fair enough but it is mine to give and I couldn't give a flying fuck about the Saints or Brees. Just mind on that Luck hasn't played a full season since 2014.
Luck's injury history includes one concussion and one lacerated kidney. Neither would qualify as 'injury prone'. So really it comes down to whether the shoulder is ok, which makes this very similar to Brees in 2006. If the shoulder is good, I really wouldn't have any more injury risk concern than I'd have for any other player.
Can't see this materializing although I'm not saying the Colts new incoming front office and coach won't consider it...I just don't see the Jets making a play and I'm not sure it makes sense even. I don't want to mortgage the future by giving up premium picks for a player like Luck whose health, as has been mentioned here, is somewhat questionable. I've liked Baker Mayfield all season and I'll keep hoping that somehow he's available wherever the Jets are picking. Would love to see Mayfield learn from the sidelines for a season under McCown and take the reigns in 2019. If not Mayfield there will be other quality QB's available be it Mason Rudolph, Jason Stidham, Clayton Thorson, Luke Falk, in addition to the alleged big 3 of Rosen, Darnold, and Josh Allen.
I would honestly trade every player on the Jets for Luck. Andrew Luck and 50 players off the street is a better starting point to build a championship contender than the current Jets roster.
That's alright, I have the exact same number of Super Bowl rings as the last 45 years of Jets GMs combined.
That's way too easy. Gotta build a team. If it was QB against QB each week in a one-on-one battle your points would be more justified.
In the modern-day NFL, 90% of building a Super Bowl contender is getting a HOF quarterback. They are almost never available. Everything else may not be simple to piece together, but everything else is available every offseason in free agency and the draft.
So then I guess you're claiming that Canton can already get to work on building the busts for guys like Darnold or Rosen? This is fait accompli?
Of course not. I simply state the obvious, which is ... there's a better chance of the #1 QB taken in this year's draft to be a HOFer or win a Super Bowl than there is of the #4 QB taken in this year's draft.
Actually, I will not embarrass you with league history concerning the draft that completely obliterates your non researched theory. I suggest you dig a little deeper my friend. I'll leave it there for now, however, I will warn you, repeated nonsensical or non-researched information will result in me paddling you with factoids that will expose your limited knowledge.
Perhaps. However, my facts, or should I say, the facts of the NFL Draft and HOF QB's are indisputable. We won't go there. For your sake.
Please go there. I'd love to hear your dissertation on how historically, the 4th QB selected in the NFL draft have produced more championships (and HOF members) than the 1st QB selected in the NFL draft.
No way would I want Luck. He is pretty beat up for a young guy and his style of play caused those injuries. If he were truly healthy no way would the Colts give him up so buyer beware if he is available.
Ken Stabler: Round 2 Ken Stabler: Round 2 (Won SB) Drew Brees: Round 3 (Won SB) Dan Fouts: Round 3 (Never played in SB) Kurt Warner: Never drafted (Won SB) Joe Montana: Round 3 (Won SB) Russell Wilson: Round 3 (Won SB) Tom Brady: Round 5 (Won SB) Boomer Easiason: Round 2 (Played in SB) Ron Jaworski: Round 2 (Played in SB) Ken Anderson: Round 3 (Played in SB) Colin Kaepernick: Round 2 (Played in SB) Brad Johnson: Round 9 (Won SB) Chris Chandler: Round 3 (Played in SB) Brett Favre: Round 2 (Won SB) Mark Rypien: Round 6 (Won SB) Jeff Hostetler: Round 3 (Won SB) Joe Theismann: Round 4 (Won SB) Stan Humphries: Round 6 (Played in SB) I'll not include Unitas, Staubach, Starr. You're going to play with me, make sure you have your uniform on and you're on my level. Otherwise its like I'm playing with children. Of the winning SB QB's throughout the games history FIFTEEN have been 1st round picks.
Sweet. When are you going to refute the argument I made (that you're more likely to get a Super Bowl champion or HOFer with the 1st QB taken in a draft than the 4th QB taken in a draft)? You found one 4th QB taken (and he's a really good one) ... Joe Montana. Here, I'll get you started ... Eli Manning - 2 rings, borderline HOF Peyton Manning - 2 rings, HOF Troy Aikman - 3 rings, HOF Steve Young - 3 rings, HOF (supplemental draft) John Elway - 3 rings, HOF Doug Williams - 1 ring Jim Plunkett - 2 rings Terry Bradshaw - 4 rings, HOF ... go beat 20 rings and 5 Hall of Fame inductees. After Montana, you only need another 16 rings and 4 HOFers.
