Ah yes, unlike the good ol' republican party, right? Running on the platform of tax cuts every time, but never actually lowering taxes unless it's for the extreme wealthy.

People don't get that cutting taxes means you have to take the money from somewhere. 2 billion cut from education is unacceptable. I'd rather have higher taxes, than have my children's education standards lowered.

Under Christy, property tax went up, tolls went up AGAIN, cost of living kept going up but he took all raises and cost of living increases away from state workers and took money away from education! They have been paying the cost of Christy's so called cuts with frozen salaries for at least 5 years now, and that didn't even help the state. Enough is enough. I'm glad the bully is gone.

Time to build the economy from the middle out instead of the top down.

Divide and conquer is the name of the game. Until we unite and share and sympathize with one another nothing will change. To much hatred in the world

Honestly, the best part of the election on Tuesday is no more election signs/commercials for a while.

The woman you voted for was a racist...did you factor that into your decision?

I'm a Bernie guy and Goldman Sachs of shit is a red flag, Really hope he does the right thing.

As a teacher, I can tell you adding or cutting $ from the education budget really doesn't mean squat.

The single biggest affect on your child's education is your parenting.
Government, Schools, Programs, Teachers all get way too much credit and blame.

The only thing that really matters and makes a real difference is the parenting and home life.

Bad teachers are a thing though. A bad teacher can have a huge impact on a child's life at a young age. You never get 6 and 7 back again and you do a heavy percentage of the basic tools learning you will do in your entire life in those two years.

There are other important things also, like diagnosing poor eyesight and learning disabilities that a good teacher will figure out and a bad inattentive one will miss to the child's detriment.

Aye aye captain. You are 100% right. Now tell me since you are a teacher. How much should parents be involved with kids homeworks etc? What is the sweet spot where kids will receive support but no helicopter parenting.

Check it to see that it is done. Most school districts have a site you can log into to find assigned work for many classes. If a school district doesn't have this it's time to start thinking about private school.

Most kids slack as much as they can on homework. If you have an exception who works hard you already know that. Help them not slack off.

I completely disagree. Yes, parenting plays a huge role in the development of children related to all aspects of life, but that's not the same as education. Education is what schools teach as specialized subjects like math, science, history, etc. You will never learn as much as a school can teach from your parents (unless they are teachers themselves and home school you with the same curriculum).

No offense, but this is why America is continuing to plummet in education in comparison to the rest of the world. People treat school as something that doesn't matter, except when they are making big $ off it. Then you wonder how people that deny science and think that alternative facts are just as valid as real facts end up in the white house and why flat earthers / evolution deniers are mostly American. Education has become a joke here.

That's what I thought, until I saw a "vote for Christie" ad on TV several days after the election. I couldn't help but laugh. Wastes of money like that are why that guy is gone.

I saw the JETS trying to sell seats to the NOV. 2 Thursday night showdown on Sunday during the TB game.

I shook my head to how pathetic and bad some people are at their jobs....then was reminded again watching the rest of the game.
