Jets have the worst CENTER play in the NFL today and it's trickling down to the guards

The amount of pressure up the middle has been absolutely embarrassing. Wesley Johnson is the WORST starting CENTER in the NFL!

Use your eyes and use PFF to back it up ... Jets need to spend a top 60 pick on a C and that is not debatable.

His play has made Carpenter and Winters look really bad.

Wesley Johnson is a back-up Center who has been starting the last 2 seasons after Mangold was injured. Most people understand that. Mac surely does.

I highly doubt he does. This guy has been awful all year long. Gave him no competition during camp neither.

Agreed. Time for Dozier. Johnson has been atrocious. C is priority number 1 for the OL looking toward the offseason right now.

Yeah I want to see Dozier at center. Seems like stormy winters and Carp are good enough. Shell has been solid when healthy outside the one week.

It seems that both guards are having down years, which is concerning, but they're still starting caliber players who should benefit from an upgrade at C as the OP said. I think drafting a guard in the mid rounds to potentially groom would make sense though. I also think I'm okay with Beachum and Shell with Qvale as depth, but again would like to see another guy with LT potential brought in through the draft to groom.

But an immediate starter at Center is needed this offseason. I wouldn't even bring Johnson in as a backup

Yea, he’s bad. Earlier in the season I tried to defend him but I was wrong

So we desperately need a FQB, a pass rusher, a Centre, a CB and no doubt more, all inside the first 60 picks, I can see Mac getting a hard ride after the next draft as he makes a lot of differing needs camps unhappy at his selection.

    ;)

QB and C are top on the list, no doubt about it. But FA will be key. Jets could fix a C in FA, then go QB- EDGE in their first two picks.

Should have addressed the o-line in past drafts but we can't turn back time. I'm not really sure how the O-line draft is shaping up but from I've heard that's it's top heavy rather than deep. Jets should really use 1 or even both of their second round picks and address the line because they looked disgusting yesterday. No QB will be able to win with that kind of line and that's important given the scope of us addressing QB this offseason

agreed, no use crying over spilled milk.

This draft has some really good offensive line prospects. They should be able to at least get a C in this draft if needed. They could go the FA route too.

    Notable names:

    Billy Price - OSU Center
Ryan Jensen - Ravens Center that will be a FA

If Jets draft a young QB, they absolutely need to go ahead and focus on buffing the o-line. One of the quickest ways to ruin a young QB is to not protect him.

go FA route for center. dont waste a pick on a center since they aren't all that expensive anyway. Use the draft to get tackles and guards. I agree with you though, Wesley Johnson sucks

If McCown gets killed back there because Johnson misses an assignment, ask yourself "Is that a bad thing?" IMO, keep trotting him out there and then fix it through FA or the draft.

This is exactly why I don't give a crap about trying to draft a QB next year. It's a waste of time unless we build a strong OL. I would draft the two best O linemen available with our first two picks. Winning starts from there. It's been that way since forever.

You can’t wait for the perfect time to draft a qb. You have to take the shot when it’s there. You can buy an o line.qbs rarely come available. Mac can’t pass one up this year if the value is there.

Mac NEVER uses quality picks on the OL. He has used 2 picks in three years on OL, both 5th rounders. The jets will not admit it, but they found out yesterday what happens when you build on OL with scrub free agents and late round draft picks.

But I was told he did a good job in place of Mangold last season AND that he'd be even BETTER this year.

Sarcasm aside (although yes, many did say what I typed above), we do need to address C, LG (if Carpenter isn't resigned) and LT. Perhaps RT, too, but I like Shell and would give him 2018.

that tackle from Notre Dame is a freakin beast. Idk where we are going to be picking but if he's still there I would run to the podium to pick him

You guys and your Notre Dame players :D:D:D

Is he really the best lineman on that team? Quenton Nelson looks to be one hell of a guard.
