First, I think he's wrong. Jets will be motivated, and Cutler will revert to form. Second, this guy never says anything positive about the Jets (or Mets for that matter). WTH... Joe and Evan, in comparison, are salt of the earth and cover ALL the teams fairly. But Francesca is such a Giant/Yankee ball washer... sometimes I just listen to him so I can take an extra blood pressure pill.
I don't really see how it's a crazy assessment. The Fish have won 2/3 games since losing to us even in spite of Cutler. We have a shitty run defense and they have a premiere runningback even if he hasn't produced this year. Their win against the Titans wasn't that impressive as Matt Cassel played. But they're winning with shite quarterback play right now. If we don't stop the run, and don't jump out ahead early, I wouldn't be surprised if we lost. The key is getting to them early to negate the running game from getting going. I like Joe and Evan. But they're the whiniest pair of broadcasters I've ever met. Joe also isn't too knowledgeable. He's obviously made his bones being a raw emotion guy. We need to make sure that we do NOT abandon the run as for some reason that's what the Titans and Falcons did the past two weeks. 14 carries for DeMarco Murray, 18 combined carries for Freemen & Coleman. The Dolphins defense is at their worst when they can't predict what's coming.
Ajaye has to be held in check; he had 130 yards against the Falcons. Load the box, force Cutler to throw all the time and good things will happen eventually.
A challenge and an opportunity for the young squad on the road. Gotta be focused and minimize mistakes. There's a Jets/fish thread already, no?
Which is exactly why Miami being favored is perfectly reasonable. The Jets rushing defense is giving up 138.8 yards per game (5th worst in the league) and 4.6 yards per attempt (9th worst), so there is certainly a possibility that Ajayi will go off and Cutler's incompetence won't matter so much.
If the game was in NY the Jets would be 2 1/2 - 3 pt favorites. I'm more worried about NY rushing the football than stopping Ajayi. Not running the ball and not stopping Ajayi and that will be a tough game to win. Kickers gotta do well on the road too.
Bottom line: Who cares what any "expert" predicts? Their track record so far this year - and not just regarding the Jets - is way off. I just want to see improvement, especially in the running game, and the "D" line.
I don't care what Mike or anyone says. They don't know anymore then anyone. But I said before the Pats game if we lose this game we are going to reel off 4-6 losses in a row. The bubble has bursted so I like the Fins to win tomorrow. God I hope I am so wrong
These guys get paid to make decisions. No one really trusts them for accurate picks. NYJets said they are a 50/50 coin flit. That's closer to the truth. IMHO, we have to stop the run game by AJay and get out run game back into production. With Bilal back in the mix we have a better chance them most give us credit for. W.....Jets,Jets,Jets.
I would agree if they would have gotten run off the field last week. Now though, feel like this team can play with just about any team. Wouldn’t it guarantee a win but I feel pretty good about their chances. Now why them get run off the field
It doesn't really seem like loading the box has helped all too much either. We've been bringing Jamal Adams down and teams are still bowling over us. Frustrating is an understatement. I always said after the Rex years that I would gladly sacrifice some rush yards for a pass rush and a better pass defense. But we're not getting any sort of pass rush at all from the front 4. We will hopefully be in the market for an edge rusher this offseason. There's slim pickings though. DeMarcus Lawrence is the marquee name but he'll likely get a monster contract with his performance this year. He's been a good not great pass rusher in his career and is showing up in his contract year. Those type of players make me wary. The only other options I find available next year are below. Note that neither Ansah or Lawrence have ever played in the 3-4. They will also both receive monster fricken contracts due to the fact that they're the only available guys really. Edge rushers *Age is reflective of how old they'll be at the start of next season DE Ezekiel Ansah (36 career sacks) - 29 DE Adrian Clayborn (22 career sacks) - 30 OLB Ahmad Brooks (54.5 career sacks) - 34 OLB Connor Barwin (53.5 career sacks) - 31 OLB Erik Walden (33 career sacks) - 33 OLB Trent Murphy (15 career sacks) - 26 OLB Junior Galette (32 career sacks) - 30 Trent Murphy is interesting playing alongside Kerrigan in Washington. 9 sacks last year. Not sure if he's a true pass rushing option though or a Calvin Pace type of player that gets opportunistic sacks. Also note that Galette is playing for the first time since 2014 for the 'Skins. I imagine he's just being used situationally as well after multiple injuries. We need to find one in the draft.
