McCown won't be Rodgers but could he be like Testeverde during Penningtons early years? Having a Curtis Martin and Mawae wouldn't hurt..
If we run the Browns into the ground it will be an important win.. Now if we beat NE then and only then is it Kool Aid time for me
I tend to agree, and with that being the case, there's no real reason for McCown to continue to start. Petty can hand the ball off, and he can hit passes that McCown can only dream about.
I don't know who was worse, Jack Trudeau or Bubby Brister. Thanks (NOT) for resurrecting those memories!
That's - a byproduct of having a good memory. All these terrible things always live on - and they just never die. Ugh!
2004 against Miami they both had 25 yd TD runs but that was the only time they both had decent TD runs in the same game
Looks like Forte to be out for the Browns game - another great opportunity for the tandem to strut their stuff.
We beat the Pats week 7 in 2013 to run our record to 4-3. The Jets are going to have to be like 7-3 before I will believe they have any chance at a playoff berth. I've just seen flawed teams bumble through the season too many times to believe this team has any chance at this point.
7-3 is exactly when the Jets'll get you because that's what they do. 7-3, you finally get your hopes up, and then they'll finish 8-8.
The problems this year are at QB, WR and probably RT before we're done. The defense is decent but it is not good enough to carry the offense through the dry spells that will happen. The RB's are a strength right now but Bilal Powell isn't going to take 200+ carries without breaking down. He's broken down under far lesser loads in the past. For the Jets to have any chance at a playoff spot the defense is going to need to be able to carry the offense the way the 2000 Raven's D did and that's not going to happen. The only other chance is that one of the two young QB's suddenly becomes Tom Brady and I think we all know that's not going to happen.
Do you remember how, part-way through that run, he gave a fist-pump in celebration of the certain touchdown? Then he started to look like he was running through molasses.
No to Petty...it takes 15 yrs to develop a QB. This is McCown's make or break year. I think he has it!
McCown is productive and and doesn't make *many* boneheaded plays, but his ceiling is limited. He'll never single handedly pull the team out of a hole, and he won't rise above and conquer the elites. The same things that make him seem ok right now will eventually come up and let us down in a big way. Don't be fooled. This happy train will only last so long while McCown is driving. Petty and Hackenberg likely won't perform to his level right now, but at least they'd be getting reps they desperately need so they can perform at or above that level in the future.
