We don't have any LBs who can play in pass coverage, our great LBs like Lance Mehl, Al Atkinson, Larry Grantham, Ralph Baker, Bob Crable and Kyle Clifton excelled in pass coverage, they all never came off the field
Lattimore looked good in coverage, very natural. Made a bunch of interceptions in camp, had a pick in the preseason as well. I don't understand Bowles' logic here. It's almost like a joke. You have 3 ILB. One guy is horrible against the run and the pass (Davis), the other guy struggles against the run (Lattimore) but excels in coverage, the third guy struggles in coverage (Henderson) but plays the run well. What is Todd's solution? Exactly, you not only start the one guy but also give the one guy (Davis) who doesn't do any of those things well 100% of the snaps. It's just bizarre.
Pace, Coples, Harris and Davis are arguably the worst set in the nfl...which is a shame playing behind the best DL in the nfl
I would like to see what Taiwan Jones can offer. We need to start injecting more youth in our defense. Coples ,Pace and Davis aren't going to cut it down the road.
Davis is clearly a liability in coverage but what are our options?...his strengths outweigh his main fault...this one will have to be on the coaches...remove him on critical passing downs or whatever adjustments they have to make...
Agree completely. Let me throw something else out for consideration. Is it just me or the secondary looked lights out better without Cro in the line up. The QB actually had to scramble looking for someone, as opposed to throwing into Cro's direction as an easy way to gain major yardage. The D with Williams, Lorenzo, Pryor/Miles, Henderson and hopefully Milliner would look ten times faster than with the slow motion vets.
I still think he's a good player...jmo. He seems to be where we want him to be. Hopefully he stays consistent.
I absolutely loved when Macc traded Pryor for this man. During the Pryor/Davis thread i couldn't help but hope we were receiving a more developed/polished & experienced DeMario Davis. And that we have. He's been bringing it as a great mentor for Lee too.
It's funny reading these old threads and the guys we bashed the CS for not playing. All out of the league now.
Davis has made huge strides. Post Cleveland Davis has been closer to what Rex was claiming than when he was drafted Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about him, I did not expect him to play so well. He looks very fast and well polished.
Remember when people complained we didn't get anything in return for Pryor, a bad player that no team wanted through three days of the draft?
