I'll throw a name out there that I have not seen mentioned in this thread, Matt Patricia. He has the right demeanor ,and the intensity we are lacking without being a clown like Rex. Has has coached on both sides of the ball and would likely take the proper approach to dealing with the NY Media. I don't know if he would want to coach the Jets , but the opportunity and $ might sway him.

    ... There's a reason you don't see his name.

Patricia might make a good HC, but I doubt he'd come to the Jets, but even if he would, I wouldn't want him. He would be yet another DC to become HC. We need an offensive-minded HC who can develop a young QB. No more former DCs for at least 20 years.

I think Scott Linehan will be high on our potential list.

I know, he comes from NE....
Let's keep hoping for Gruden who inherited a SB roster from Dungey and ran it into the ground after 1 season. Even though he just said during the preseason he has no intention of Coaching again......

Yet Bill O'Brian has been mentioned and gets positive replies, Nick Saban has become one of the best coaches in the history of the NCAA , Mangini was the best coach we have had since We and he did have a nose for talent.

I agree he might not come to the Jets.
He did coach the pats O line as well as other groups before becoming DC.
As far as needing a offensive minded head coach , in my opinion we need a head count who is a head coach. We have had Defensive minded HC's who were glorified DC's that never grasped the concept that they were responsible for the entire team. Ignoring the offense completely, just like toilet Bowle's does .
That has been killing this team for years. A guy who has worked both sides of the ball , has his hands on every group on the roster is what we need. I'm pretty sure most of the Superbowls the past 2 decades have been won by head coaches who came from the Defensive side of the ball , but they all have their hands on both sides of the ball.
If we go with an offensive minded coach , the same thing would apply. He would have to have the right coordinators and would have to put as much info the Defense as the offense.

He'll make a good HC, but I doubt it'll be for the Jets.

How about Steve Sarkesian? Assuming he's gotten over his alocoholism it would make sense. He recruited Darnold.

Don't kill me guys but what about Brad Childress? He is currently with the Chiefs as assistant head coach, he has had some success with his offenses and he's working alongside Andy Reid.

Last thing we need is a former alcoholic.

Sure, as long as Darnold's high school coach is not available. That would be my first choice.

Technically speaking, there is no such thing as a "former alcoholic."

If memory serves me correctly, he had some high-powered offenses with the Vikings, but he's 61. I don't know that we want a HC that old.

  17. It's gotta be an offensive guy w some personality, vision & Fire.Childress,Linehan & McCoy types will not work here bc they lack the personality & instant credibility necessary to handle the media as well as change the culture.

Todd Haley,Jim Harbaugh & perhaps Brian Kelly would be my shortlist. All 3 fit the bill in my humble estimation

Why Brian Kelly? What's he doen with Notre Dame that's so great? He didn't do too much development with Kizer, either. I vote no on Kelly.

I also disagree on Childress and McCoy. I wouldn't include Childress because he's 61, but he had some high-powered offenses in Minnesota. McCoy is a proven OC and has a creative mind. Why is that lacking in credibility?

Firing Bowles right now is not soon enough, but that said, just bringing in someone new - no matter who he is - and not changing the whole concept of this team ism't going to do squat. It should be obvious that they need a total revamping, which should've happened 3 years ago, but Woody wouldn't do it. Will he do it now? I mean a TOTAL rebuild: Hire a Pres. of Football Ops - RIGHT NOW! and let him start working on a blueprint; then let him hire a GM and CS that will work to create it. Anything short of this is just rearranging deck chairs on this Titanic of a franchise.
