That one surprised me, maybe they look to bring him back?

    Jets cut Bruce Carter

wtf, he was the only ILB I liked on this team..
bad move. our depth at ILB is atrocious.

Cut Bishop too right? I like that they kept Stanford though. He made some nice plays last year before he got hurt.

Julian Stanford had a good summer. I'd assume he steps into this role. Can't really get too worked up over that.

Thanks for the list. I don't follow the rest of the NFL, so wasn't aware of those teams having the quality depth they do.

Still, you're comparing them where they are now. I said the Jets' TEs could be special next year if they develop this season. I didn't say they definitely would be great, just had a lot of potential. ASJ is far from the top players now, but in a year's time, it could be a very different story. IMO if he's not just as talented as those guys are, then he's not far behind. Leggett may be raw, but he's smart, and he played big in big games at Clemson. I saw Clemson play a lot. He rises to the occasion and level of competition. I wouldn't rule him out if I were you.

Martellus Bennett is 30. Vernon Davis is 33 and hasn't had great production in several years. I was a huge fan of his coming out of college, and I truly thought he'd re-write the record books for TEs. He has been a fairly big disappointment. He had 4 very good years with SF with 52, 78, 67, 56 and 52 receptions. He also had seasons with 20, 31, 41, 26 & 18 receptions. He only had 20 with the Broncos. He rebounded to 44 last year with the Redskins. He's had problems staying healthy and may not stay healthy or even be around next year.

Jonnu Smith doesn't even make an effort to block. He may turn out to be a good receiver in the NFL, but that's still to be shown.

Cameron Brate had a very good year last year. Let's see if he can continue to do so.

I don't know if Niles Paul is a great blocker, but he's nothing as a receiver, or at least his stats are pathetic.

So, we'll see in a year's time how things stand. You could definitely be right. I know I'm just being hopeful and optimistic. That in itself is something new for fans with the Jets' TEs. The Jets TEs have to put in the work and produce. I know that you'll be rooting for them to develop and do well.

Do starting OLBs usually play STs? If Bishop was a starter, I wasn't even thinking about his playing STs.

I'd rather have Bishop than Mauldin too. He was a nice story and seems like a nice kid, but just doesn't seem to have the talent we need.

Can you blame him? The Ravens could very well be a playoff team. The Jets will suck.

No Free Agent would choose the Jets in 2017 if there is another option. Just a fact. I know I wouldn't.

Unless the only other choices were the bills and browns.

Stanford was pretty awful last season, routinely getting swallowed up lineman, and not offering much in coverage.
He added weight, and looked somewhat improved this offseason, but he wouldn't make many teams in this league.
He's not better than Carter, and now he's our #3 ILB (and the first two aren't good either).

I assume they'll be picking up someone else, as you can't go into a season with 3 shaky ILB's.

Still don't understand cutting Harris without any replacement.
Cutting Carter makes even less sense.
This will be our achilles on D this season.

Hmm. That is a tough one. Good call. :D I probably would choose the Jets out of those 3 just for location alone, but the Browns would probably be the best option.

I think Carter is a better starting option than Lee at this point.
maybe that's why Mac cut him..

I guess Stanford did also. But I wanna see it in games to believe in either one. I'm also resigned to see nothing from the edge rushing the QB, yet again

At this point I'm starting to believe that they're really looking to dump this season for the future. I give up trying to figure any of this out anymore.
