When Hackenberg actually sees the rush coming, I think he's actually quite mobile and a very good athlete. His problem is that, half of the time, he doesn't anticipate where guys are coming from.
Petty may have better escapability, but Hack has shown in Penn St and this preseason he can sustain heavy beatings behind porous o-lines for what's that's worth.
Took a quick look at preseason stats. Petty is playing comparatively to Jimmy Garroppolo. Hack is playing comparatively to Ryan Mallett. Obviously stats don't tell the whole story, but interesting nonetheless.
Macc dodged a bullet, whether he knows it or admits it or not. If Petty was lost for any amount of time, he would be architect of a team with 2 QBs - one an over the hill loss machine, and the other a not-ready-for-prime-time question mark. This is just more evidence that he doesn't know what he's doing.
Everyone should stop and remember what the asking price was for Jimmy G a few months ago, and likely will be again. Would'e sucked to have paid that ransom only to later learn that they had as good on their roster under a cheap contract, but would also be a very Jet-like thing to have done.
I'm starting to question Petty's durability. I get it, no protection, no weapons but he's been hurt twice in what, the last 4 games he's played in? How many games did he start last year before he was hurt? Like 2-3 If I remember correctly. Those just aren't good odds as far as I can tell. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Ok, I'll just put it out there... Jets can't have nice toys, or unbroken nice toys because Broadway Joe made a deal back in '68. Until that debt is paid, no toys. So, hate to say it, but if you wanna break the cycle, someone needs to... you know
Well I agree to a point his injury on Saturday seemed like it was something that could have been avoided by most QBs but his injury in Miami I don't put on him...it was horrible.
Remember when Sanchez got his ass handed to him with no O-Line? yea...still happening in JETS land...
It's starts up top...U mean $17 Million and a few contracts restructured couldn't have made us competitive? That's all we ask as fans... Don't get me wrong...I want a Superbowl..several actually..but in the meantime...show me you still want to win!
