I don't get the Fascination with Gruden. Yes he won a Superbowl in his first year, with the team Dungy built before he arrived. Was up and down after that, went 45-53. His last year the team was 9-3 needing 1 win to make the playoffs and lost 4 straight. His record in Tampa: 12-4 ,7-9, 5-11, 11-5 , 4-12 , 9-7 , 9-7 Very similar to what we have become accustomed to. Tampa was 9-17 in December Grudens last 6 years. He is not some franchise Savior.
How to start a completely inane thread is by just mentioning Gruden's name in a topic that involves the Jets. If there is no QB , there is no Gruden. period
The qb thing with gruden is overrated too. I don't remember brad Johnson tearing the league up when he went to Tampa. Sure Gannon had a surge but he also had jerry freakin rice and Tim freakin brown.
There would be better situations for him then here....He would ruin his legacy by coaching a team without a QB.Hes never gonna coach this team.If Pagano gets fired why wouldnt he want to coach there instead.
I wish he would get a coaching job again. Here, there, hell anywhere. Just so we don't get the annual "John Gruden Jets Coach" thread year after year......
I think Gruden is overrated, but I still think he could improve the team. He did turn the Raiders around. I'm not jumping up and down at the prospect of Gruden, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.
Something that wasn't stated it a ton of the articles I've seen was the fact that Gruden said although he was training to comeback he doesn't foresee it anytime soon. I don't think it's happening for now so it really doesn't matter whether or not Gruden is overrated.
he can get lots of $$$$. the defense is almost done. the offense may need wr, ol, and qb. right up gruden's wheelhouse. you are in the country's #1 market. a better chance than you think, if woody gives him control.
