Speaking of slogans, I think I remember seeing the slogan "Play like a Jet" posted somewhere either in the training facility or the stadium locker room, while watching the HBO series a few years back. I guess it's a variation on the ND slogan "Play like a champion" but given the history of this franchise, is that really the right message management should be imparting to the players? Maybe that's been what's wrong with the Jets all these years.
Well, it may be anathema to say or even think it, but it's the sad reality. This team needs to play like the Patriots if they want to succeed.
THIS. I have a feeling a lot more time will be spent in the parking lot this year drinking beer than in previous years.
Ugh..please... Beyond the obvious of the smug cheating assholes to the north.. I'm tired of the Jets trying to be someone else. Can't we create our own identity? I get "play like a Jet" was sort of a punchline; But at least it challenged the franchise to be original in their winning quests. The last thing I want as a Fan is to see my team aspire to be the very thing we despise. I know you meant no harm w. that statement but anyone who really wants the Jets to be more like the Patriots beyond wins/losses should just go be a Patty cake as far as I'm concerned.
I certainly wasn't talking about cheating or trying to be someone else. I was clearly talking about a successful team who always shows up to play and is well prepared. I was talking about playing hard, smart, and tough. I'm talking about reserves stepping up and playing well when they get their chance. I'm talking about not beating yourselves with mental errors, sloppy play, and stupid penalties. I'm talking about playing disciplined football, executing with efficiency and effectiveness. I'm talking about the CS developing players and putting them in a position to succeed. I'm talking about the GM drafting players who are leaders, who love the game, and put team above self and/or $s.
