Bad pick, and Mac deserves criticism for it. I hated the pick from jump, as it was too high for a player not well rounded in his game. That said, i'll give Mac a little consolation credit for moving on rather than stubbornly trying to justify his pick.
Hey this sucks but it beats Tanny doubling down on stiffs like Wayne Hunter and Mark Sanchez. Baby steps.
It's just a procedural move by Mac . If he is not claimed, and the odds are he won't be, he goes onto the Jets IR. By waiving him with the injured designation, he doesn't count against the roster as he would if just put directly on IR allowing Mac to bring Foxx back into camp
What's he going to do in someone's camp in July? Regale them with stories of his most recent ACL surgery while he hobbles around on his crutches? What team is going to bring in a WR with 10 career receptions for 135 yards, coming off 2 ACL injuries? His most recent injury, which will make him available to play, maybe sometime in 2018 if he is lucky.
He may get another NFL shot but no team is going to pay him to be on IR this year except the Jets since they are already on the hook for it.
The Jets will probably cut him out right (after paying him an injury settlement) once the roster # has to be cut down.
Right .. the Jets could give him another shot .. if he clears waivers it's an injury designation as would still own his 2018 rights.
Now after Jalin Marshall's suspension he will have to be the worst PR in the NFL... Epitaph- bad hands, bad routes, no separation, injury prone, terrible PR/KR....he deserves to be a Jet!
What are the odds that Belicheat puts in a claim for him? Seems like a move he would make as he can absorb 1 less player on his off-season roster.
0% . If he does land on another team it won't be until he's heathy again . Only makes sense for jets to retain him on IR because we have to pay him regardless .
