Great he will be injured by game 3 if he starts then we get to see our rookies light it up.

He's a 1 year stop gap to prevent us from going 0-16, but we'll still draft a 1st round QB next year

This was the right move. He's a good veteran presence that everyone speaks highly of. He will give the young guys a chance to compete and step in if/when necessary. Cutler would have been disastrous, so at the very least I'm just happy it's not Cutler.

At least we have someone who went 6-7 one year 12 years ago to help the young'uns.

This better light a fire under Pettenberg. They need to see that this is their window of opportunity, it doesn't get any clearer, or readier for the taking. It's now up to them to turn away any naysayers.

If the Mets suck this year, I'll probably become a raging alcoholic.

Good point, if it was just the two QB's Petty would have just had to beat out Hack. Now he needs to work harder to beat out a vet. I think you will get more out of both with this move.

Edit: But now seeing his contract details, I think this is a horrible signing. He will be the day one starter and take away most of the first team practice reps.

Do you guys get a feeling that there is a plan in motion? And green light to execute?

It's an OK signing. Stopgap, nothing tied up, nothing big spent.

Guarantees continued youth movement, gets a backup with enough to avoid a complete embarrassment. Maybe lending Woody to Brits is a good thing .

Good stuff. Hopefully he's benched after a few games and we turn it over to the kids.

Best part is no Cutler or Kaep.

I'm pleased with what we've been doing this offseason.

Soooooo glad that we decided against signing Cutler. Definitely didn't want him on the team let alone starting. This signing allows the Jets to start McCown early in the season if they want to give the young guys a few more weeks or if they prove themselves in TC/preseason, he serves as a great mentor/backup. Good pickup for sure.

    Looks like we'll draft Watson.

I don't see this move as a clear indication that they will or will not draft a QB in Round 1.

We now know who our 3rd camp arm is. McCopter may start the season, but I believe Hackenberg will come in about mid-season and take the reigns.
