For the Jets, it would be a great scenario to see the Broncos trade up and we acquire more picks. Buffalo has got it's advantages too, Tyrod Taylor ain't that bad of a QB, I think maybe we try and swipe him away next season if it were to happen?

It seems whoever the Jets "like" so do the Bills, it would be pretty cool to play this hand against the Bills and have them waste a pick.

If this is true and he He takes Hackenberg in round two he deserves to be fired on the spot. Tells me he's a crappy QB evaulator and we're probably screwed with Mac at the helm.

He needs multiple years on the bench and needs to be retaught the position. RIght now he's as good as Lindely. Best case scenario for Hackenberg is that he's at Zach Mettenberger's level in two years...

I've been getting the impression the Jets liked Hack for a while now. It could be the Bills trying to bait us into doing something stupid as they pick ahead of us.

Like I said I don't know if he would be any good but, unlike many QB prospects, he will have no problems with a NFL playbook, taking snaps from center, huddling, calling plays, protections…etc…etc. That's why I said he can play earlier than most. A guy like Lynch has to learn all of the aforementioned for the first time.

But who would they hope to be leapfrogging especially if Lynch is still there?

If I'm Elway I stay put and take Hack at 31.

I think the flaw in that analysis is that even if he can play quickly because of his experience, he's going to be awful IMHO.

A guy like Lynch may take time but he may have a much higher upside that's worth waiting for.

I'm hoping someone takes Lynch earlier in the draft, putting the pressure on Elway to pull a trigger on a trade. 20 to 31 is a long wait. I'm not a huge fan of trading up either, so I would stand pat at 31 but you never know.

    I could buy that.

It would be great if SF or Cleve grabs Lynch.

I don't think Elway's stupid enough to take Hackeberg in round 1. I'll lose all hope in this current Jets FO if Hackenberg is the pick in round 2. He's Logan Thomas/Ryan Lindely 2.0. If he weren't so highly sought out of HS, he's a round 7 prospect.

Elway has nothing to lose trading up for his guy or selecting him in round 1. He may think differently then us in terms of fixing him.

I contest that your analysis is flawed as it presumes Lynch has a higher upside. I don't accept that notion. Aside from just sheer size whatever other advantages Lynch has over Hackenberg (i.e., arm strength and athleticism) is minimal at best when compared to all the other advantages I listed earlier that Hack has over Lynch. Furthermore, I think both would be awful if forced to early duty. At least one would be able to run the offense. BTW, please don't take any of this as me being pro-Hackenberg; I'm just playing devil's advocate and trying to represent the thought process of the FO if they did select Hack.

He's wasting a first round pick on a terrible QB Prospect. How is that nothing to lose?

He was stupid enough to trade for Sanchez; or was he? Hmmmmm.

like I said before, he may not think he's a terrible QB prospect. If Elway and Kubiak can fix the issues he has, he could be a good QB.

You're better off trading a 4th for Kap, and seeing if Kubiak can work with him if he bombs out, you evaluate the QB postion next year via the draft.

Compensation is not what's holding up the Kaep trade to Denver; it's his salary.

It was both, they wanted a 2nd which nobody would give them and why should he take a reduction when he doesn't need to.
