I actually liked Tejada over Flores because he's a more natural shortstop but the org is down on Tejada and likes Flores. And it looks like they were right. I would stick with him and his defense should improve. They need any bat they can get.

Yeah his numbers have dipped a little from when he first burst on the scene but he still has tremendous upside. Moreso than a SS like Castro IMO.

He'll def earn a raise when his time comes but I dont think it will be a number thats unmanageable. Wonder if he's a Boras guy like Andrus is.

But if were going the FA route Ian Desmond will be available this offseason. I wouldnt go that route though. Older and much much more expensive.

Yeah but sadly I've witnessed some horrible nightmares in San Diego even going back to the Murph. We jus never play well there, my worst memory was K Rod giving up a walk off grand slam to Ervith Cabrera maybe 5 years ago. The night before Hernandez got demolished and was done by the 3rd inning. 2 years ago I watched Harvey pitch a gem only to see the Mets lose because the Padres tied the game at 1 with a dam infield single. I think I've seen the Mets lose like 5 or 6 maybe even 7 straight games in San Diego.

Just about everywhere else out West has been terrible, the interleague has made it even worse with more games out there

We wouldn't even be able to trade Niese for equipment at this point.

I think Niese is feeling Matz's breathing down his neck about now. I'm not sure how TC can justify keeping him in the rotation at this point.

    Agreed.

I like the idea of a 6 man rotation for a bit but this guy is a disgrace.

Make a statement and ship his ass to Vegas.

Easy for you to say . 5 million per year invested in Niese . The Mets ain't pissing that money away (even though they should) .

That's peanuts compared to what other guys get these days. His salary is one of the only reasons Niese remains an attractive trade option.

But either way that's why it would make a statement if they benched this scrub.

Like I said before if he was a righty he wouldn't be on the roster anymore IMO.

El Gordo wins again! Even hits a double! Now if we could only convince TC to send Niese down and bring up Matz.

Flores also hit another bomb, his average isn't great but he's got some power, tied for the ML lead for HR's by a SS. I think he is a decent player and his the potential for 15-20 HR's which considering what production you get out of most SS that is pretty good.

That can't possibly be right... I'm watching the Padres broadcast and Dick Enberg just said that 15 Mets have struck out tonight. They are only in the top of the 7th. That would mean only 4 of the 19 outs at this point haven't come via strike out.

Yeah crazy that they struck out so much and end up winning the game with 7 runs. Degrom his last 4 start has been in another world. Tejada has been hot. He's playing like he doesn't want to be taken out of the lineup. We are tied for 1st!

DW's return doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon so Tejada is probably at 3rd for the long term. Even after DW comes back, I doubt if his bat comes with him. Its really a shame but DW's all-star days appear to be over and only because of his monster contract (by Met standards), he'll play 3rd again.
