don't be jealous b/c the ACC historically is the greatest conference in the history of the sport.

If you were a true fan of the integrity of the sport of college basketball, you would be infuriated by the preferential treatment they get.

Who cares about the history of the sport. I only care about a short segment of time that supports my argument.

    Sound familiar?

I don't see them getting any preferential treatment.

outside of a couple of years the BE was always overrated.

No I said it was a big win and that was also before they got destroyed by Kentucky. Oh and for the record didn't Kentucky beat Kansas by like 30? At the time Gonzaga's win over UCLA was a good win, so we should penalize them because the team they beat on the road just got crushed by the best team in the country?

BTW I am starting to hear rumors that Dave Rice could be out at season's end if things don't turn around and the name floating around as his replacement........ none other than Jay Wright.

Horrible news out of San Diego.... Dwayne Polee (who played at St John's) collapsed on the court and was hooked up to an EKG machine. They had to take him off the court on a gurney. No other news available but this is really sad.

I'm just tweaking the ACC. Right now, the Big 12 is the best conference, and there are probably 3 conferences vying for 2nd. The Big Ten is Wisconsin, then a bunch of above average teams, and a fairly deep bottom. The Big East is Villanova, a couple above average and average teams, and DePaul/Marquette at the bottom. The ACC probably has 3 of the top 5 teams in the nation, but the bottom of the league is a joke. You probably have to put the ACC ahead because of the strength at the top, but the way the ACC is set up now, almost half the schedule should be aneasy win for the top teams. That's not the case in other leagues.

By the way, the Big East is now 7-1 vs the ACC.

There is a 0.0% chance Jay Wright even interviews for the UNLV job.

what makes the Big 12 the best? Kansas stinks

how many of those 8 games were beating a good ACC team? Butler over UNC and UNC always struggles in Nov/Dec and who else?

Wright's next job is the 76ers job. It's his whenever he wants it.

Surely there is some kind of statistical analysis that can "rate" the conferences right now? Some kind of strength index?

It means that if you order the conferences by their current RPI, this is how they rank.

cool so it is meaningless, just some computer #s.

at the moment Kansas has the #2 RPI. the same Kansas that has losses by 32 and 27 and hasn't beaten a currently ranked team.

Is there a more "realistic" way to rank the conferences at this point in time?

I don't see the point in doing so, there are so many factors. conf strength to me is about top to bottom strength. the ACC is top heavy right now like the BE used to be but we are a month into the season. it's really early.

    watching the LV Classic

    Boise State/Loyola Chicago

    Fox Sports airing it

before they cut to the court, the studio guy said something like "Boise State has a guy who can fill it up, Derrick Marks", failing to mention that Marks is injured and not playing tonight!
