This may be why. I wasn't even born when Klecko was in his prime (I think) when I think of the sack exchange I always think of Mark first. Actually had no idea how good Klecko was but Mark had all the flash with the sack dance and he should still hold the sack record
hehe, funny. I was a Jets season ticket holder(4 seats)for 27 years. Watched football now for well over 40. I was 4 years old when the Jets last won a Championship. I lived in Queens at that time and EVERYTHING was Joe Namath. Never said Chrebet "blazed" new ground. Just seems like a lot of teams were, and still are imo, looking for that little white guy. The Patriots had 3 of them just recently. Not necessarily to play the slot, just ones that can play. I`m sure teams will take any small guy that can play regardless of color. Just seems like a lot of teams have them now. Like I said, I think Waddle and Tim Dwight were before Chrebet but it seems like after Chrebet we saw more and more. Chrebet was a great Jets player. Played with his heart and used his head(too often you can say). And like I said, it was an opinion of mine, not a fact that he should be in. I just enjoy watching the underdog guys do well where they aren`t supposed to.
Probably depends on whether winning the super bowl was more important to you than the regular season record that got you there.
No, the team was the '68 Jets. when discussing champs the year of the season is what we attach to them- the '72 dolphins, '85 Bears, '13 Seahawks, etc...
He pissed off nobody. His best season was 1981 when he had 20.5 sacks. Unfortunately, sacks were not officially recorded that year. Also, his career was cut short due to injuries. If that 20.5 sack number was official and if he had two more effective seasons he would have been in already.
you are right. But this being the Jets, we can fuck with them like they have fucked us the last 4 decades. It`s really not a big deal. I think the Jets are the only team that is referred to as the 69 Champs and not the 68 Jets. It doesn`t bother me what anyone calls them. At least they call them.
I know it, you know it, I'm just saying to some '69 may be more meaningful because that was when SB3 was played.
and no one in the sports world refers t0 that Jets Championship team as the 68 Jets like they do other teams mentioned by junc.
The 69 Jets are known as the 69 Jets or the 68 Jets are known as the 69 Jets? Are the 68 Jets special? The only SB champ that identifies itself with the year it won the SB? Were the following teams SB champs? 1986 Bears 1980 Steelers 2000 Rams 1970 Chiefs 1987 Giants 2014 Seahawks 1999 Broncos
That is odd. I don't pay attention to whatever publicity they do. I know NFL Films referred to them as the 68 Jets for the America's Game series in which Maynard, Namath and Philbin participated.

Why am I not surprised that Junc is hanging his hat on the tree of ignorance? One headline writing intern and a handful of people trying to make a buck on Ebay or Amazon are not getting my vote as "authorities." I'll bet it's a whole lot easier to find a hundred times as many real references to the 1968 Jets by people who know what they're talking about. "You don't know anything about NFL football!"
I am not sure why I am entertinainbg the worst this board has to offer but I will. http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/auction/2012/1307.html http://www.thefind.com/search?query=1969+ny+jets http://www.thefind.com/search?query=1968+ny+jets http://www.sportsmemorabilia.com/sp...2-jets-jersey-namath-psadna.html?SSAID=198698 http://www.steinersports.com/1969-new-york-jets-team-autographed-16x20-stadium-overhead-photo.html
there are some reputable companies in there. I deal with it all the time, the average fan on the street thinks the jets were 1969 champs.
