Here's my Jets reality, and if Leinert falls to the Jets, here's my 2006 Jets team: Remaining Free Agents: Sign Pearson and Teague #4: Matt Leinert #29: Gabe Watson #35: Marcus McNeil or Ryan O'Callaghan #71: Deuce Lutui #97: Matt Bernstein The rest is gravy. QB Leinert/Penny/Ramsey RB Martin/Houston/Blaylock FB Bernstein/Askew/Lawton TE Baker/Jolley/Dreesen/Lamkin LT Jones/Pearson LG Kendall/Nienhuis C Katnik/Teague/Missant RG Moore/Lutui RT McNeil or Callaghan/Morley WR Coles/Dwight/Ridgeway WR Cotchery/McCareins/Ridgeway 3-4 DE Kimo/Robertson NT Watson/Robertson/Pouha DE Ellis/Pope LB Vilma/McClover LB Kassell/Hobson LB Barton/Myers LB Thomas/Chatham CB Miller/Barrett CB Dyson/Strait SS Maddox/Coleman/Washington FS Rhodes/Coleman or 4-3 DE Thomas/Kimo NT Watson/Pouha DT Robertson/Kimo/Pope DE Ellis/Ball LB Vilma/McClover LB Kassell/Hobson LB Barton/Chatham CB Miller/Barrett CB Dyson/Strait SS Maddox/Coleman/Washington FS Rhodes/Coleman This is a deep team, one that can be playoff bound. I don't know how the QB race would go year 1 in Leinert's ability to start, but talk about GREAT potential in Leinert, Penny, and Ramsey. May the cream rise to the top!
^I knew that was coming, you little monkeh. Well, if you aren't up on your 'Scarface', it's your tree, Frank - you're sitting in it. I...what? Draft. Right.
yea man i like it the only thing is i still havent given up on drob yet and would prb go for carpenter is his there
so what do we do with him.. he was a 4th round pick only a coup of years ago it kills me 2 bench the guy
seeing how we haven't seen him play in that formation i don't know how we can judge that. Robertson is atleast 317 lbs, so don't give me the 'he's not big enough' stuff. last year he was constantly being double-teamed in the inside because he is a threat with his speed. He's showed that he's very adequate at run-blocking as well. Until we see him in a game, I don't think we can really say that he will not work out in the 3-4.
This is pretty important. We don't know if DRob can do the job. While so far I don't have a lot of faith in him, who knows what the new regime will make happen. Without Herm's Love Camp, this D could be pretty tough. Hopefully they can get DRob to turn that corner and be the guy we drafted him to be.
Nice try, but 1) On opening day, I bet Pennington or Ramsey play before Leinart if we get him 2) McCareins is better than Cotchery no matter how many times you guys want to say otherwise 3) Blaylock is 3X the back Houston is. Why is everyone on this board so in love with the 3rd stringers? 4) We're not signing Teague, and then making him a backup to someone already on the roster. If he signs, he plays. 5) Dearth is not going anywhere, he's one of the best in the league, and we're not keeping 5 TEs. Not to mention I believe he restructured, a sign we're keeping him. 6) Vilma is not playing on the outside on the 3-4 or 4-3. 7) Barrett at this point is 3X the player Miller is. Miller is not starting over him. 8) Maddox... he may start, but what has he proven? 0. Expect to see Coleman out there on opening day, or a FA guy. Nothing drives me more nuts than these "mock offseasons". Let the offseason play out. When you go into trying to predict an entire draft, which is impossible, it's just not going to work out.
Yea, I was wondering about Maddox over Coleman. Has anyone ever seen Maddox play (in early TC)? Is he the real deal at safety? I thought both he and Rhodes had about the same skill level. Any news on his rehab? I remember reading that he's a hell of a ST player. He may have been captain of the Wolfpack D. So maybe he has the inside scoop on Super Mario.
looks pretty mediocre to me who will our gamebreakers be? our 33 year old running back? our rookie QB? our undersized LB?
i know erik coleman had a weak season last year, but remember his rookie year, im willing to bet he will bounce back...sophomore year is tough to follow after an amazing freshmen year...
It's fun to go down memory lane once in a while and see what people were thinking. I was never impressed with Leinart and thought he had backup QB written all over him. I'll always remember that year as the Brick/Mangold draft.
Man... the offseason is so boring that we're reaching into the wayback machine for threads to bump...
