We don't need to sign another slot CB. We need a #2 CB. Callahan is a slot CB. I'd like to see Ronald Darby signed. If not him then maybe Rashaan Melvin if he's a fit, or E.J. Gaines (he's had lot of passes defensed).
I think they like Nickerson and hope he develops. That could be why they didn't go after Callahan or Dennard, and signed Poole instead. Also, maybe Callahan and Dennard want too much money or didn't want to play for the Jets.
I was just thinking about that and trying to remember what that dude’s first name was .... kind of small right ?
5 for Poole, 7 for Skrine in 18. Double? Skrine had some bad games but was also used outside where he did not belong when Johnson was out
I don’t mind us staying put with what we have now. Let Nickerson, Roberts, Clark and now Poole compete.
They won't be competing against each other. Nickerson and Poole are slot CBs. Roberts and Clark are outside CB if they can make the team.
Poole looks to be a fairly large downgrade over Buster. Given, the signing the plan looks to be start Nuckerson at nickel corner with Poole as insurance. The problem is Nickerson was much worse than Skrene last year. But, this is Nickersons 2nd year, cbs take time to develop and he missed a lot of development time with injuries. They must like and have confidence in Nickerson by signing Poole.
Falcon fans described him as a competent above average slot. Thats about as much of a compliment as a slot DB can get given the challenges of that position. So glad Skrine is gone
Didn't Skrine make $6 million a year? So Poole at $3.5 million can't be too much of a downgrade. Not to mention Skrine was terrible. So if Poole is also terrible, then the Jets at least upgraded cap-wise. If Poole is anything above terrible, then he is an upgrade.
All I remember is that pass hitting him right in the face mask in the 2010 AFC Championship game - could have turned the game .
Go compare the two's career and then get back to me. The first three years alone, the start of their careers. DPI Skrine - 9 Poole - 3 You look at it overall, big picture type thing, its even worse. Poole didnt even have a Pass Interference call on him last season. Two the year prior, one his rookie season.
Bottom line, Poole has Maybe I'm confusing him. Wasn't it Poole who was fined 3 times in 2 games last year. One for targeting Drew Brees helmet to the head. And a couple more.
So now players are judged by their salary. Cousins makes more than Brees, guess the Saints should offer a trade? Read my original post. Poole is up and down, good at blitzing the QB, hopefully Williams can maximize his potential. He's not a blue Chip player. He's a body that hopefully can improve. Posters acting like he's all world here. Waiting for the highlight video to be posted. His tender was $2.025 mill. The Falcons didn't feel he was worth it.
He wasn't kind of small, he was kind of slow. Another one through the ever-revolving Rex Ryan door of "hard hitting" safeties.
I admit that one can only gleen so much from highlight film. But to me he looks like the kind of player I would match to a Greg Williams D. Looks a bit more stout than your average slot corner and even shed a block or two blitzing in the vids I watched. Has ball skills and isn't affraid to tackle. Certainly looks talented (again, in highlight reals) but the season will tell if he can capitalize on that in New York.
