The NFL offseason is long so perhaps some conversation on one of the bright spots on this team will help pass some time. Through the first 5 weeks of the season: 5 receptions, 47 yards and 0 TDs Weeks 6-17: 34 receptions, 455 yards and 4 TDs I realize that those stats may not be electrifying, but considering he was a rookie playing with a rookie QB and Josh McCown for a few weeks there...I would say that Chris Herndon was a big time find by the Jets and a guy that could ultimately become one of Sam’s go-to guys. If I recall correctly, PFF was also very high on him. It looks like they had him ranked as the 12th best TE in the NFL last year. Pretty impressive. I am really looking forward to seeing more of him this upcoming season. That one handed snag he had vs Green Bay this season was one of the most under appreciated catches of the year. That was an incredible catch on a lousy team.
He had a terrific rookie season but he's likely going to start this season with a suspension. So I hope he stays on the straight and narrow from here on out because if he does, he and Darnold are going to have a great connection for a long time.
Tight Ends usually dont breakout until year 3 but he had such a good rookie season, particularly down the stretch that he might have a big season next year
Agreed. The last real, viable offensive threat we've had at TE was Dustin Keller. His best year was 2011 (his 4th) when he caught 65 balls for 815 yds and 5 TDs on a team that wanted to run the ball every down. It certainly looks like Herndon can fill a much needed void and would be lovely to see him grow and succeed alongside Darnold.
I think he has flown very much under the radar as an emerging player. He was very good last year, and I think we may have found ourselves a potential star TE.
HE did not fly under DraftKings radar. He ended up as I believe the 5th most expensive tight end the last few weeks.
Easily Macc's best round 2-4 selection. I wish he found more players like him instead of Hack, Mauldin, Stewart, Hanson, etc.........
Loved him at 3000-3500 every week, an absolute must play, I had him during his monster game vs GB. He's going to be a very good tight end in this league, his stats this year were eerily similar to Gronk, Ertz, and Kelce as rookies.
I am excited for not only Herndon, but how the whole offense played down the stretch. Darnold, Anderson, Herndon, even Burnett had his moments. All looked like the spark went off & they all started clicking.
He didn't just catch it with one hand, that same hand that caught the ball got smashed. I still don't know how he caught that ball.
Kelce was injured his first game and spent the rest of his Rookie season on the IR. Had zero stats,Gronk had 10 TDs his rookie year. His stats were similar to Eartz's though.
He not only can produce as a receiver but he had a very good year blocking and in pass protection. Herndon has the full package. It will be nice to see Herndon and Sam grow together.
Hopefully the guy lays off the booz while driving...ubers are about 10 a pop...I'm sure he can find a few bucks in his piggy bank
It's free for NFL players. The league provides a free ride service and the Jets also provide a completely free Limo service for the players. Makes it even worse when these guys get poped!
I was referring more to his receptions and yards per game when talking about Gronk. Our offense was beyond inept when it came to scoring.
Ahh these guys dont want the boss’s limo service or Mr Uber seeing them after a hard night of snortin whiskey & drinking coke. But they sure as hell can afford their own limo or to pay a designated driver
