So we know the HC is Gase, but who do you think they will pick or who do you want them to pick to fill out the coaching staff? I know the Miami OC has been mentioned to fill that position in NY. But my pipe dream pick would be Payton Manning. Ive heard that Manning has had some high praise for Gase and it would be a dream come true to see the two of them put their heads together to develop Sam Darnold. I also like Manning on the sidelines from a game/clock management stand point, after watcing Rex and Todd, it would be nice to see some on the staff with a proven record in that depot not to mention the inevitable bump in play calling. Defensivly its a toss up between the two guys linked to the job (Williams and Joseph). I think prying Kris Richard away from Dallas would be awesome for Maye and Anderson given what he did in Seattle with the DBs, but the experience of the other two kinda tips the scale for me.
Training day is over. No to Manning being anything on this team. I'm sure he was approached many times since he retires to coach yet he hasn't. Jets have enough problems being a training school would add more. Bring him in during training camp no problem.
Peyton Manning assistant QB coach. Let that fucker work his way up to QB coach. He is desperate for a job. Ray Lewis assistant LB coach. Same thing. Jerry Rice WR coach. He deserves the top spot there. Bill Walsh quality control. Been out of football for a while. Is he still alive? John Harbaugh defensive coordinator. Baltimore hates him. Jim Harbaugh, assistant to John Harbaugh. Michigan really? Kliff Kingsbury OC. He has to be rethinking that AZ HC position. Todd Molken, assistant OC. You know he is just dying to work for the Jets. Even at a pay cut. Condoleeza Rice Director of Marketing and Business Affairs. Usain Bolt. Assistant RB/WR coach. Start him out at about $35,000 a year. He's from Jamaica. Must be poor and will accept whatever we offer him. The world is filled with Jets fans.
Lol, Peyton Manning is going to be "brought in" to the Jets training camp. On a team he has no association with. He's a fucking billionaire. He wants to own a team, why would he consider an assistant coaching position? Maybe the $60,000 a year? Tempting.
Gregg Williams is a must-hire now. The prospect of Vance Joseph reuniting with Gase and running our defense is almost as depressing as the idea of Gase as the head coach. Plus, there would be the possibility that Williams could work some of that Cleveland magic on us if Gase got himself fired mid-season.
Well, he was the one calling the Jets and recommending Gase. Me personally never like the guy be it college, Denver, Indy and his dumb commercials. The day he stayed in college rather than be drafted by the Jets was all I needed to hate that guy.
they could put kevin greene as the dc , elevated from lb coach... williams or another hire would be preferable to vance joseph. .
I would imagine with your name and avatar you've been following the Jets for a long time, so you know the story about Manning and why he returned to college... so why do you say that?
Folks needs to stop thinking like everyone in the world is a Jet fan. Peyton Manning is almost a billionaire. He’s not coming to fucking NJ to be a QB coach because he called Chris Johnson. Jeff Bezos isn’t going to sell PSLs at Met Life Stadium. Jesus isn’t going to walk across the swaps of the Meadowlands to jump on that stupid indoor ski slope. The world is not filled with Jet fans.
Did it ever occur to you that the players look like trash because the coach is trash? Case in point - yes. Gregg Williams example. Jonathan Vilma was in Mangini's dog house. Looked like crap. Didn't play much. And how was he in New Orleans? He was their defensive leader. [That he was with the Jets before Mangini took over.] There he even won the VLT once. So does having capable assistant coaches matter? You betcha.
Because he wanted a guarantee that the Jets would not trade him for more draft picks. So college players are dictating teams personnel moves now?
