Teddy Bridgewater was flawless tonight and is improving his NFL value over night. Darnold was just, wow. Looked like a seasoned veteran out there going 13/18 (.722%) for 96 yards, 1 TD/0 INT's (only 1 sack) along with two runs for 8 yards and a QB Rating over 100 (103.0). Only 96 yards means nothing to me. We had a huge lead and we started to run, run, run and ran some more. His two minute TD scoring drive was beautiful. His Red Zone awareness was jaw dropping. That 3rd and (I believe) goal for a 14 Yard TD pass to end the 1st half was magical. The ways he looked left with his eyes before completing right was no sign of a rookie. Preseason or not. The Jets and our two QB's were big time winners tonight.
Teddy and Sam were fantastic tonight. Some of us were worried for Darnold behind the 3rd string O-line, but the play calling allowed him to be mostly untouched besides the sack he took on a blitz. I hope they play a similar amount next week against the Redskins. Does McCown really need to even play? If so, I would do 1-2 drives of McCown, let Teddy play the rest of the first half, then Sam the entire 2nd half. If Sam plays well, he could potentially start against the Giants. We will see what Bowles comes up with! Overall, fun night!
Nice! Yeah, I was planning on going, but after watching tonight: I will definitely be there. Usually get a pretty good Jets fan turn out at Fed Ex Field.
If Darnold plays all pre-season as well as he played tonight the Jets would be fools not to start him week 1. You sit rookies when they are out of their depth and are trying to acclimate to the speed of the game. Tonight Darnold wasn't perfect, but he didn't look like he was overmatched or out of his depth at all. If he continues to play at or above this level for the rest of the pre-season, hopefully Bowles has the good sense to make the right move.
+1 @Frenbar 2018 is still a rebuilding year with a long outside shot of the playoffs. The real chance to be a playoff contender is 2019 when we have even more FA $$ to spend. To best fulfill that prophecy we need Darnold to get some experience this year to come into the 2019 season ready to go, ala Goff. And who knows, if he can continue to build off that incredible performance last night then maybe he will surprise in 2018. If the O-line can protect and the D can get some pass rush this team could be pretty good. Did someone say Khalil Mack?
Yep and Sam is likely to get better instead of worse. Very promising debut. Hopefully they let him play with 1's this week or next. That will give us an even better feel of his current chances.
Yea the first 22 passes were all completed. Didn’t see too many specific names but I think Walford and Leggett popped up.
