Roethlisrapist originally got a 6 game suspension and then it got reduced to 4 games because he didn't rape anyone before the regular season started. That's the only thing I can up with of why it was reduced. Oh, and money.
It’s three games for violating the code of conduct. Not sure they can suspend him for sexual assault without him suing since he hasn’t been convicted of sexual assault.
the Fitzmagic curse strikes again. where ever this guy goes somethin bad happens to the starter. it's uncanny. he musta sold his soul to the God of Backup Quarterbacks
Yea. That was a tough call too. In that case though there was photo evidence to support the claim and it fell under the new domestic violence parameters. This is just the blanket code of conduct violation . My guess is the did a bunch of negotiating with the union and Winston because the lawyers knew they couldn’t win an appeal if they went the DV route and roger does not need to lose a DV/sexual assault case in this climate. Winston not screaming he will appeal is deafening silence
Funny how a guy gets a year suspension for something as silly as smoking weed, yet sexual assault and domestic violence are treated like misdemeanors.
It makes you wonder if Fitz is paying people off to get opportunities. "Hey IK, how much does Geno owe you? I'll double it if you sock him in the face."
Or maybe he just picks his destinations well. Criteria: 1. Young QB with history of issues 2. Big "stud" WR with large catch radius 3. Franchise desperate for wins Fitz should start his holdout now....he's only making $3.3M this year.
There was also this...... Jameis Winston stood on a table at FSU and yelled, 'F--k her right in the p---y' 304 He's suspended for the entire game against Clemson as a result.
Not to be mean or anything, and I've posed the question millions of times, but how do some of these guys graduate college when they're only functionally literate? I'm serious, how does that happen? It was a big thing years back in the NCAA (basketball), and hand over my heart, some of these students/players were 8th grade reading level at best. It was a scandal that I can't remember the name of. I'm not even talking about the corruption part. Well, I guess that is corruption. A close friend of mine went to college on a full scholarship for Soccer, had to maintain his grades, and pass classes or lose it, hello (and he's really smart). He wasn't good enough to play Soccer professionally, so he became a marketing analyst after graduation. He was great at it, but hated it. Switched gears in his mid-40s, did a full 180, went back to school and got his M.ed, and now teaches High School idiots (which he really enjoys). We're in our 50s now. Anyway, how do you get into college, sports scholarship or no, if you can barely read 'See Spot Run'? I'm not being facetious. I mean, don't you have to do fair to middling on your S.A.T.s? I really want an informed answer to this burning question. Thanks, all.
That's easy...idiots agents (who they must know already before graduation) must promise to kick back some $ from the hundreds of thousands/millions the schmoe gets when he signs an NFL deal to the college or state university to ease the way, cut corners so the "student athlete " graduates eg a lot of majors in basket weaving, Phys Therapy, law enforcement etc...believe me very very very few have pre med or accounting
Its all a scam and they have kids take the SATs and etc. for them. These big body, freak athletes have everyone telling them they are the next Barry Sanders and Ray Lewis from the age of 13 and up. Everyone up the chain of command sees it as a way to make money and exploit the athletes. If a kid is stupid as fuck, but he is able to change up the whole recruiting scene/success of your program, middle aged men are willing to do anything. It means more money in their pockets.
Wait a minute....Winston is actually very intelligent, he could have gone to Stanford, he was academically eligible to do so, certainly had the grades and the SAT scores. So, he chooses a university of dumbasses, whores and porn stars....basically, if you can write a check or play football, you're accepted to school there. He wouldn't have made one semester at Stanford with his antics. What he is though, is he's missing a decency button, with a scary lack of morals. https://www.foxsports.com/college-f...inoles-jameis-winston-wonderlic-cfb-am-041515
Hi, TP. I was actually aware of that (first paragraph). I should've phrased it more focally. Winston has the maturity of a two year old, has been coddled and enabled, makes stupid social decisions, and is an off the field jackass. However, my question/comment in a general sense was that the athletes who can't even do simple addition and subtraction and write a coherent sentence who are considered prime real estate not only get into college but get shuffled through to graduation. Isn't that illegal? Yes, it is; and I'm sure it still gets covered up because I'm a born cynic (even if it's no longer as prevalent). To hone the point a bit, athletes would don't have a Plan B and put all their eggs of being athletically gifted in one basket sometimes wind up in jail, bankrupt, or worse. If they blow it definitively off the field and submarine their career with questionable and criminal behavior time and time again and don't have another source/mode of income/life skill, their lives are essentially over. CTE aside, the NFL has a lot or ruined lives, a ton of self-destruction, and dead bodies including those of other people on their resume. I said it in one of the Robby Anderson threads. Players who are seen as high risk should be required to get mandatory counseling and be subjected to curfews and other restrictions that are a magnet for trouble if they do something that's a serious red flag, even without an arrest, because arrest is probably next. Act like a 12 year old, get treated like one. You can't always save people from themselves and who wants to babysit a 22 year old, but a concentrated effort should be made to counsel and mentor, not enable until the sand in the enabling hour glass runs out. The league is a lying sack of shit as it is and I trust the NFL as far as I can throw them, but something has got to give.
