So saw Sicario 2 last night. Unfortunately an unnecessary sequel. Not a bad movie, mind you, just not a very good follow-up to the brilliant original. Lots of intrigue, some great violence and shootouts, the caravan scene was probably better than the caravan scene in the first one but the story, meh and the ending very very disappointing. Josh Brolin was outstanding, plays such a snarky obnoxious arrogant bastard to perfection. Del Toro not close to his first rendition. Saw about 15 trailers, cannot wait for First Man about Neil Armstrong and the space program leading up and including the moon landing. Also Operation Finale, the hunt for Adolph Eichmann.
Tried to watch Sicario 2 but my interest started to fade 20mins in. I'll give it another try on a slow day but honestly, it just wasn't what I was looking for..
Got home from the movie at about 11, my girlfriend was tired and had to work today so I fired up Sicario (the original) on the iPad and stayed up till about 1 am watching it. Brilliant brilliant movie. Sicario 2 was merely OK but really not needed.
Wow, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom blew my mind. And the comments in this thread did too. It was horrendous. Any fan of the original will absolutely despise this one. I think I shook my head at what was going on literally 25 times. It's a mess, story-wise. Somehow it is 51% on Rotten Tomatoes. I can't see how people could like it. Even if you checked your brain at the door, and just like dinosaurs. I like Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jeff Goldblum. So it would take a lot for me to dislike a movie they are in. It was all over the place. Blue literally gave a better performance than any of the actors and had more depth and heart. D+.
I'm actually looking forward to JP 6 now that the Dinos are on the loose in Cali. Should be fun. Blue gets my vote for Best Actress in a Sci Fi movie for 2018..
It felt like this movie was made just to set up a potential exciting Jurassic World 3 (Jurassic Park 6). And yes, Blue was good. That is why I did not give it an F. Her scenes as an adult were good and I thought the video scenes of her as a baby being trained were done well too. But everything else: awful. Talking about logic, or being realistic, looks bad when talking about a movie with living dinosaurs, but some of the decisions were just crazy story-wise. I think you are right, just sit back, enjoy some Summer fun, and move on. If you think about it too much like I did, it falls a part.
You'll find this to be the best way to watch the majority of movies.. Not very often modern classics comes along..
Terrible movie, cloning of people, animals, greed of the wealthy motivates them to be even more indifferent about everything and everyone around them. I’m done with the Jurassic Park/World themed movies. Looking forward to Mission Impossible.
Me too. My #1 anticipated film of the Summer. We all know Tom Cruise is a weirdo, but for some reason I love his Mission Impossible movies. Fallout looks great. I'm done talking about Fallen Kingdom too. Though I am sure 3 years from now I will see the next one at some point.
The Equalizer was a bad ass movie. I didn't even know there was a sequel. Not sure what they can do with it, but hopefully it is good.
