“I think it’s worth acknowledging that this is a country founded in violence, a country that has always worshipped outlaws, loners, cowboys, and people who got the things they got by the gun.” When he sat down with former President Obama for beers in Vietnam, and Bourdain asked him if the future would be okay for his daughter. Obama told him, “I think things are going to work out.” (from a recent interview 2018) We are in the Summer doldrums and I thought with this countries birthday only yesterday plus some recent current events its a time to reflect... How disappointing and scary this is getting living with these headlines of talented people ending their lives or deranged individuals ending the lives of decent people..gun accessibility is OUT of control.and combined with the mentally ill people who should be inpatients but their insurance ran out or wont pay for treatment is absolutely lethal combination!!.. yes we have the Sec Amendment and I get all that but do you think the Founding Fathers would not have second thoughts if they could foresee gun rampages, lives destroyed EVERY MONTH (just about)...Society is more stressed out then ever with soc media and the demands of cell phones/technology He also mentioned how its really a misnomer to think that Mexicans "are taking jobs away" ie all the jobs NOBODY wants to do dishwasher, roadwork, gardeners/landscapers. janitorial, housekeeping ...I mean where would the country be without people like that? What hurts on a personal note that he was around my age with a young daughter ...guy must have been in incredible pain especially since all those antidepressants are worthless once you mix them with alcohol..Bourdain was brilliant but also selfish and irresponsible saying "the body is not a temple but and amusement park"..so go ahead and smoke like a chimney take drugs and drink like a fish.. To me there is no faith, little structure in many families..producing negative toxic individuals Lombardi was right when he turned around the Packers from losers to winners: "Gentlemen, I want you to think of only 3 things: your family, your religion, and the Green Bay Packers"
we're not allowed to talk politics anymore. A shame cause I used to like busting balls with the boys but oh well. certain political segments have too much thin skin.
^I didn't know that. No politics is a rule now? No religion and no profanity were also in the rules back in the day, but that's gone to the wayside. I never got this place at times. No nudity (which I'm cool with, go jerk of somewhere else), but then Petrozza posted a thread about no boobs, crotch shots, etc. in threads and in avatars re: Google Ad Sense and him having to delete a ton of stuff because of it, yet there's the Inappropriate Humor thread. Go figure. A certain moderator who wasn't a moderator yet got all defensive and in a huff about the Mohammed bomb cartoon and how disrespectful it was, shut down a Rex Grossman thread when he became a moderator (the thread was very funny, btw) asking if Grossman was Jewish (someone photoshopped a yarmulke on his head, it was all in good fun), and then he later went on a war against Islam. No personal attacks yet they happen all the time, can't win around here. So just so I don't violate any rules, maybe the rules should be clearly updated and adhered to or just let the lunatics run the asylum. Not complaining, just pointing out wild inconsistencies.
WTF happened to my sentence syntax? Because brain. To be clear, Rex Grossman was never a moderator here, lol. I should have phrased that differently, but it strikes me funny so it sits, stays.
The founding fathers put their lives on the line and used their guns to defeat the biggest, most powerful army in the world because their liberty was limited by a tyrannical government. They clearly valued liberty over safety and would laugh at your shitty thread.
On the other hand, dope is basically legal everywhere that matters and it’s exponentially better than that shit we were doing bong rips on thirty five years ago. You need to take a little perspective is all.
Guns have never been more legislated against in the history of the country and things are getting worse. Maybe laws don’t fix people .
I thought the BS Forum is ok for politics and current events Brook had that post on the Turkish dictator so I thought I would go for it on the usa subjects...oh well Keep it up or take it down mods it's ok by me either way folks
Has anyone braced themselves for this? In 1977 you could walk into a sports store in Levittown NY with $100 and buy any gun. No one ever shot up a high school on Long Ialsnd in the 70s 80s 90s 2000s. The fucking millenials with their emo pussufuxation and their X-an-ax and their socialist bent and their liberal patents putting crazy thoughts in their head. That’s the issue. Not the actual gun. My Dad taught me and my brothers the danger that are guns, the tool that are guns. Me and my brothers aren’t shooting up schools. Please stop with the nonesense.
Yet it's still the wild wild west compared to most of Canada and Europe and other G7 countries. We have like 60x more school shootings than the country in 2nd place and a bazillion more gun related deaths if you count up Chicago, Detroit, etc. Americans make up 5% of the world's population and own over 40% of the guns. If you think guns are not the problem you are crazy. Gun legislation absolutely works if you bother to look where it has been applied. We can't get anything done because of the NRA gun lobby and people who are stuck in the 1700s following their precious slave-owning founding fathers.
Yea, I’m going to go ahead and blame the people who shoot the guns at other people. I know that is a foreign idea to most of the us to hold people accountable for their actions and not find something else to blame but I have a hard time believing an inanimate object can act on its own. Call me crazy. And not a member, I have a few disagreements with the nra, but I have to respect any group that stands up for our rights because the minute one gets stripped away the easier it will be to start taking the rest away.
40% of the guns? Those are rookie numbers. Chicago, Detroit, etc point out America's gang problem, not gun problem. The new fad of ungrateful liberal asshats shitting on the founding fathers is disgraceful. The founding fathers put it all on the line for the liberty you have the pleasure of experiencing. They were smart enough to recognize the biggest threat to liberty is government itself, and had the wisdom to create the documents to limit the power of that. Go ahead and count up the number of people murdered and oppressed by governments in world history and consider yourself lucky. Get your god damn head out of your ass boy.
Clearly slave ownership a couple of hundred years ago is what is influencing people to choose to commit mass murder today. Problem solved. Well done.
Slave ownership is actually important to the discussion. Not only because the founding fathers who owned slaves were worthless cunts, but because fear of slave revolts was as big of a player as a buffer against tyranny. Quite hypocritcal actually. 2nd amendment nuts say it's there to protect us against tyranny, yet at it's inception it was there partly to preserve tyranny against the blacks.
It takes a tremendous amount of ignorance, and a lot more dishonesty, to reduce the founding fathers to simply slave owners.
Now Americas founding fathers were worthless cunts. That's a nice clean way to summarize the state of modern delusional liberalism. Keep fighting the good fight.
Amazing how a bunch of worthless cunts forged a new nation, now the greatest on the planet, that other super-worthy cunts want to come to, but want us to change everything about it.
