So it's essentially been an all star break this week for the Yankees.

I learned to hate the Sox before I learned to hate the Pats.

Yeah, with a 12-hour layover at Dulles airport. Welcome to the big leagues, kid.

Yanks win 8th series in a row (first time since "that 1998 team").

Sanchez with 2 bombs on Saturday followed by Tyler Austin hitting 2 yesterday including a 440-ft. rocket:

David Cone on Austin: "Tyler Austin's been crushing lefties and it shouldn't go without saying ...the Red Sox have a lot of lefty starters.

(Sale, Price, Edwardo Rodriguez, Drew Pomeranz - Porcello's their only righty).

meanwhile...perfect through 5 innings and only 1 run allowed in 8.

If they send Austin down to make room when Bird is ready I’m going to vomit.

Sucks that Florial is out until at least August. Could've been in AA by then. :(

If Colon pitches in 2020 at the MLB level, he will have pitched in 4 different decades.

Here are the ones who've done it: Early Wynn (is that the greatest name for a pitcher or what?); Jack Quinn, Bobo Newsom, Nick Altrock, Jim Kaat, Jerry Reuss, Nolan Ryan, Jamie Moyer, Jesse Orosco, Mike Morgan. Given what we've seen with all the pitchers who've had their careers derailed by injuries, that is very impressive.

Off topic, I know, but my Blue Jays may have hit rock bottom in a 4 game sweep by Oakland in Toronto last week.
They are painful to watch at the moment.

On the bright side, Vlad Jr looks like a future superstar. Bad for the Yankees of course. :)

Tearing up AA pitching right now. Him and Bichette appear to be 2 lights at the end of a long tunnel.
I hope the team doesn't rush them to the big leagues. They still need plenty of development.

This guy Torres is something really special. Just when you think you have the biggest prospects on the roster a guy like this comes around. He makes constant adjustments in the SAME at bat never mind the same season. The kid is a baseball genius his career may become something very special

Minnesota just DFA'd Phil Hughes. Remember when he and Joba Chamberlain were going to anchor the starting rotation for a decade. Now, Joba is out of baseball, and it looks like Hughes may be following him. What a shame.

Torres looks like a young Jeter: physically talented and smart.

I really thought Hughes would be an ace for 10 years with the Yankees. I'm hoping that Severino becomes that. For some reason, I was never high on Joba being a starter. Maybe it's because he came up in 2007 and was lights out out of the pen.

Joba always acted like a head case, but Hughes seemed to be a really well-grounded guy. I, too, had high hopes for the guy.
