Nice! I see you're not f'n around with the small stuff... LOL

Going on a new boat tomorrow am for Cod. I'll be fishing on The Voyager out of Pt. Pleasant, NJ. First trip on this boat. Supposedly very nice, spacious with a decent galley. I'm bringing heavier lead too. 8-12oz and the electric reel. Not leaving anything to chance...Leaving wifey home as its her hair day. Finally got water temps inshore approaching the mid 50's up and down the coast. Probably explains your bros' striper. Blues are inbound too so I've been told.

Apparently you've never been "Rocked Up" by a big grouper before ;)

I usually just bottom fish with the ole 4/0 113H.... If Im speciffically targeting a smaller fish like SeaBass, I'll downsize, but seems that whenever I do that I'll get housed by something big.
True story: once we dropped on a seabass spot. I had a chicken rig with small seabass hooks with squid... BAM!
I'm doubled over but I got him to the surface.... 20#++ cobia. Luckily my buddy got a gaff in him because the hook was just about straightened out

The 6/0 will just be for live bait bottom fishing....targeting grouper, AJ and BIG snapper (if we can ever keep them again)
I'll send 6-12" live baits down there if I think theres a big dog on the prowl..... they also like the big frozen boston mackerel

Shit, 12oz is standard for me.... it's often 16 when using live baits

Actually up here we're FAR from the stream unfortunately.... 55 miles to the "Ledge"
Best bottom fishing is usually "21 bottom" (Fathoms) which is like 42 miles out.... there are hot rocks / live bottoms that will hold closer in but overall we have to earn our fish, but that's why I think our bottom fishing is better (less pressure). Basically real bottom fishing for us starts around 100' (but there are some other spots. We have one we call "Swoll Hole" ;) )

Once you get south of the Cape it's alot closer...... Stuart and Palm Beach is only about 10 miles to the Stream.
Their reefs get hammerred but they do get billfish with sight of the beach. I want to take my kayak down there and get a Sailfish from the yak

I'll let ya know how things go tomorrow. Looking forward to a different boat hopefully fishing different spots. Most likely the Mud Hole. I already got the gear in the truck. Bringing along some Gulp baits, Squid and Mackerel just in case clams don't get it done.

Hoooooo, dog!!! Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight? Striped Bass! Gifted by our neighbor just now, the expert deer hunting bow marksman. It's so fresh, it's practically still moving. I think I'm just gonna pat it dry, dip it in egg, roll it in cornmeal and breadcrumbs, and pan fry it. Yum! Fresh lemon to follow. Who doesn't need to be ingesting drugs flushed down the toilet and more mercury in their diet that's in the water? Idiots, that's who!
