http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/02/12/a-j-mccarron-free-agency-ruling-expected-this-week/ If he wins his grievance he could really muck up the beginning of the draft. Browns wanted him last year, can’t see why things would have changed. Browns sign him and become sellers with the 1? Also would take away another cousins suitor. This definitely bears watching
Never watched him in college. Actually I never watch college games. Regardless, what is the appeal for this guy? I don't think Browns will pass up the opportunity to draft one of Darnold/Rosen so this won't impact #1 pick imo.
Don't count out Mayfield at 1. They brought in Scot Mccloughan to assist with the draft and he has been very vocal about Mayfield long before they hired him. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/02/browns_scot_mccloughan_doesnt.html
He has some production back a few years ago, looked ok with hue Jackson as oc for the bengals. The browns botched a trade for him this year at the deadline like only the browns can. If he gets free I think they grab him. What happens from there? Who knows what the browns would do but mccarron and Kizer may be enough to keep them out of the qb Pool.
Thanks FJF. Didn't know he played games under Hue. In that case, what you say makes sense. Now, who is your favorite QB in the draft? Let me ask it this way. Who would you trade up for if that guy was available while Colts were on the clock?
He was a proven winner at the NCAA level. Team leader. To me he always seemed like a guy who managed the game well for Alabama but did not have to go out and win games for them. He has good, not great, tools at the NFL level. I see his potential as a mid tier starter, but some think of him as the real deal.
I haven’t really settled on one, would only trade up for Rosen and really not thrilled with that idea either. I’m having a hard time just looking at the first pick and more looking at what we can net as a whole draft. So for me a 1. Allen,2A. billy price,2B penny type of draft would be ok. But I’d take signing cousins over all other options right now
I was not a huge fan, but that does not mean I'm right. I always saw him as a good prospect, but not a great one.
I doubt they'd take McCarron without also drafting a QB in the early spot to compete. It would be a terrible move to not have another option in case he doesn't work out.
I'd love to have McCarron and that's not me just being an Alabama fan. He was a highly efficient game manager in college against elite teams. He's got a good attitude, no worries about causing problems. When he started a few games in 2015, he looked just as sharp. He's a low risk, high reward option.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...j-mccarron-if-hes-an-unrestricted-free-agent/ If McCarron goes to Denver the Jets have to be the top of the Cousins list.
I always thought McCarron was pretty good in college too but I don't understand why he has sat on the bench behind a very average to below average guy in Andy Dalton. It doesn't mean McCarron sucks because Cincy clearly might not know what the hell they are doing but why would you NOT give a prospect like Mccarron a chance when Andy Dalton is your quarterback? In most cities there would've been a QB controversy with this situation long settled by now.
Sign this beast! Nope. I don't know much about him. But it is better to have more choices available come free agency. The more the merrier.
Cleveland or Denver. Question is does that satisfy their qb crave or will they still look to the draft. Either way it takes away a cousin suitor
